Some Cheap Insurance For Air Overclockers

Post by THE JEW (RaVeN) »

We all know overclocking means more heat. Well, what happens when you shut down your comp? Does that heat just magically disappear (in case you thought this was a trick question, the answer is no)? Here's a device that can give ya a bit of piece of mind and extend your cpu's life:

http://www.atruereview.com/pcmodspwr/index.php

Reduce down to $9.99 US at PCMods from $14.99 last I checked.

p.s. What's the cheapest anyone here (ie. Pinto or Pimpin Matt) can get Kingston HyperX DDR 400MHz (PC3200)? I'm just interested, that's all.

well my PC is on 24/7 so this is not so tempting... another solution might be to hook your cpu fans to a second PS and then not switch that one off... (sorry, I always think of the cheapest soution)

Or you could just leave one side of your case unscrewed and pull it off when you finally go to sleep
When Steven Seagal kills a ninja, he only takes its hide. When Chuck Norris kills a ninja, he uses every part.

Chuck Norris and Mr. T walked into a bar. The bar was instantly destroyed, as that level of awesome cannot be contained in one building.

DDR PC3200 184-pin DIMM module
CL3 (Intel specification) standard (3-4-4 and 3-3-3 timing)
Peak bandwidth of 6.4GB/second (dual-channel)
Serial Presence Detect (SPD) support

256MB, 400MHz, CL3 (3-4-4), Non-ECC for around $40
512MB, 400MHz, CL3 (3-4-4), Non-ECC for around $90
128MB, 400MHz, CL3 (3-3-3), Non-ECC for around $25
256MB, 400MHz, CL3 (3-3-3), Non-ECC for around $50
512MB, 400MHz, CL3 (3-3-3), Non-ECC for around $90

This is a ballpark figure, im not to shure i have to check with all my suplyers.

Is that Kingston HyperX DDR ram, or just generic brand. It makes a big difference.

Yeah, what Homey V said. I want it to do at least CL2 at 400 mhz. Yeah, I realized that JEDEC has "blessed" that speed yet, but I'm just interested. Kingston HyperX, Corsair, and TwinMos (they use the same chips as Corsair......only cheaper!!) are the companies I'm looking for.

Gotta buddy building an Nforce2 system and, apparently, cash burns holes in one's pockets every now and then ;)
