Linux RAID drivers

Hey, does anyone know if there are any 3rd party drivers for this RAID card:

(then go to products, IO cards, and click the black square beside "PCI ATA 133 IDE Card (Raid Optional)".......it won't let me link, unfortunately).

It only officially supports Win and DOS, but I figure that if there's DOS code that someone could have extrapolated from that and created Unix/Linux code.

Yes, I know it's a software based RAID card, but so are most of the ones on mobos. It's only $38, though (that's why I ask).

At the time of installing the CMD680 IDE controller chip kernel 2.4.19 (which supports this chip, but not kernel 2.4.18) was not available as a Debian package but had just been released. A kernel was compiled from source to get support for this new controller. The default .config (i.e., starting from no .config file) was the starting point. Below is recorded the specific configurations added.

We have already reviewed many ATA/133 RAID controllers, and now it's high time we took a closer look atthe product offered by a company, which threw down the glove to the today's ATA RAID leaders. We aretalking about a CMD680 based solution from Silicon Image.

That was excellent. A confirmation AND a review.

The reason I asked about was cuz I was looking at RAIDing HD's, obviously. Most of the new boards only have SATA and the convertors are rather expensive and not guaranteed to work with all RAID chips. For $35 bucks, this card is basically the price of 1 convertor and (now that I know it works in Linux) so much easier for older IDE drives. Thanks.

true about the sata converters. I would only get them if they come bundled with the controler card. I recomend the HighPoint 1540 SATA controler.

It is expensive but in my opionion will last for a long time.
