worst customer experience ever

Post by Tempus »

hey guys,
i know a lot of you dont frequent staples that much but i was just so mad that i needed to post something. I will also be probably sending an email (which will probably do jack all) to Staples head office as well as my old store in chatham

the problem?
I bought a 512 meg sd card which DIED on me... crashed my palm and scrambled it enough to make me do a hard reset.

The facts:
-bought feb 10, 2005
-broke, march 13, 2005
- tried to return it March 16, 2005
-staples has a supposed 30 return policy

i called the store on oullette ave first before going there. (store 301 i believe if anyone cares) and after about 5 minutes talking to the manager I convinced her to give me a store credit because she didnt want to taike the card back at all.

So i get there and the guy who sold it to me was working. He originally told me to hang onto the packaging because the cares have been having some problems... and while i didnt have the actual plastic it came in, I had litterally everything else.

having said this, this jack @ss proceeds to try and tell me that there is now a 14 DAY RETURN policy and that i was SOL. So I told him that I had already talked to the manager. And the guy responded very rudely with his tone and it was clear that he didn't want to deal with me at all.
Not only did he not believe me, he was very obstenent the way he asked the manager the question.

She at first denied the conversation we had. (i know because i wasnt 10 feet away, she was on a lift doing some stock rearanging or something)
so then i went closer, and she didnt even come down, did not greet me nothing. She just looked at me and was like "is it you" and i said yes i talked to you not 20 minutes ago. so she turns to the guy and says "ya i said merch credit only" and then she turned right back to what she was doing.

The guy was visably upset by this and really didnt care to do it so he passed me off to someone at customer service.
NOTE: i went to customer service first and they passed me off to this guy... i wish i had have gotten his name but i got the managers name

anyways my old store in chatham would have probably FIRED the guy and the manager on the spot for how rude they were to me. I once was joking with a customer that was deemed in an inappriopriate tone (which perhaps it was) and the customer was laughing but I still got written up for it.

this was totally unacceptable! I'm so pissed I think that I am going to post and write several emails over this.

hopefully i can make enough noise that someone takes notice
Gentlemen, we got 20 calls about the David Hyde-Pierce incident. And as you know, one call equals a billion people, which means 20 billion people were offended by this

If they had a known problem with the product, then yeah that was pretty sh!tty of them. Though, if they wanted to be real @$$holes about it, you were technically outside of your return date (as I understand it).

-30 day return policy
-feb 28 subtract feb 10 = 18 days
-18 days + 13 days (when it broke) = 31 days
-18 days + 16 days = 34 days

However, if the product has been known to fail, you were that close to the dates, you're a former employee of the chain, and they were that rude they should of just given you the credit.

B1tch away. ;)

ya i know i was shy of the actual refund date... my issue was how they handled me
i sent a big email to head office and such like that this morning
usually for defective products there is a little more flex in terms of store credit but i had to fight just to get that... it was just rediculous
