Seeing as how this was a PITA, here's the instructions on how to install this thing:
1. Do NOT plug in the receiver--the instruction manual is on crack.
2. Make sure any Ati Remote drivers, folders, or registry settings are removed.
3. Make sure any X10 drivers, folders, or registry settings are removed.
4. Install the 2.5 drivers, but rename the folder it installs to with a name LESS than 12 characters and with no spaces.
5. Reboot.
6. Ctrl-Alt-Delete and disable the AtiRW.exe right away.
7. Plug in the receiver.
8. Windows will detect your Ati Remote Version blah, blah, blah.
9. Reboot again and if the Remote icon pops up, you're good.
This is what happens when X10 (yes, those b@st@rds responsible for all those pop ups showing off their wireless cameras that they were obviously marketing to socially-deprived, sexually frustrated Peeping Toms) make drivers for an Ati product.
