world's first wireless PCI router

Post by [Fallen]Thumperup »

Kind of a cool idea, I don't know if I would want to use it, but cool non the less.

GIGABYTE Technology today announced what it claims is the AirCruiser G Desktop Router (GN-BC01) is a complete single-port 802.11g router packaged in a PCI card format. The card can be inserted into any PCI slot and draws its power from the host machine. The 3dBi detachable, cabled antenna features an LED at its tip for easy monitoring of wireless network activity.

Routing features include a built-in DHCP server, UPnP support, SPI firewall, static and dynamic routing, Dynamic DNS, URL blocking and VPN pass-through. Wireless features include WDS bridging / repeating, 64/128 WEP encryption and 802.1X and WPA security.

The GN-BC01 will be available at the end of March at an estimated street price of $62.

That's pretty awsome...this could really open up a world of possibilities with custom software configurations for these hardware routers. Good work GIGABYTE.
