File Sharring, without stupid fucking RIAA scrambles

Post by [PX] Nebuchadnezzar »

I found this today, and so far I've had no problems with RIAA scrambled files.

From the Website

What is WinMX?
WinMX is a FREE file-sharing program like no other. It allows you to connect, download, and share files with MILLIONS of other users through the decentralized WinMX Peer Network. Once WinMX is installed, you'll have access to one of the largest and most diverse networks of shared media files in the world. And unlike many other 'peer to peer' software providers, we respect your privacy and will never sell you out to spyware. When you download WinMX, you're getting WinMX and only WinMX, no bundled spyware, no ads, no B.S.

Features
High performance peer-to-peer protocol
Share and DOWNLOAD ANY FILE TYPE
Multi-sourced downloading for maximum speed on broadband connections
Auto-Complete feature continuously seeks out new download sources, even after WinMX is restarted
Detailed bandwidth monitoring and throttling controls
Complete upload and download queuing system
Fully decentralized chat
OpenNap connectivity for expert users
Powerful docking window interface great for hi-res and multi-monitor systems
Compatible with most LAN configurations
WinMX respects your privacy and doesn't contain spyware

Requirements
Windows 98 / ME / 2000 / XP
Pentium 166 w/ 64MB ram or better recommended

The download is only 752KB, nice little efficient program. It has already replace Kazaa and Grokster for me, but I might still use IRC for harder to find stuff.

Actually, the RIAA has just started to hit this one and BitTorrent. Kazaa still holds the majority of people they sue, though.

It also looks as though Canada will overturn their copyright law on this and that this music thing is gonna go international (Europe looks like it's gonna start doing this, too).

Boo-urns.

Gentlemen, we got 20 calls about the David Hyde-Pierce incident. And as you know, one call equals a billion people, which means 20 billion people were offended by this

Yup:

I can only see them suing us if our copyright laws on mp3's are slightly altered. We do, after all, all ready pay a tax on CDR, DVD, and mp3 media. Check out the article posted in General Discussion (?) for more info on it.
