Sim City 4

Post by Dempsey »

I just bought a copy of Sim City 4 for 12 bucks at Cash Converters. What a great store!
When Steven Seagal kills a ninja, he only takes its hide. When Chuck Norris kills a ninja, he uses every part.

Chuck Norris and Mr. T walked into a bar. The bar was instantly destroyed, as that level of awesome cannot be contained in one building.

Too bad it was a giant resource whore (read: inefficient).

So what I'm getting from this post was that SimCity 4 was badly optimized.....

Hey, I already knew that!

it was horribly optimized but for the game play itself i love it (dont use the hardware render it slows things down for some reason....)

It's always a bad sign when the hardware render slows down the game. I will agree about the game play, I loved sim city 2000, Me and Bob once played it so much that he puked.

Bob is a SimCity-playing-gut-spewing machine!

I enjoyed the gameplay briefly but couldnt commit myself to raising and nurturing a cuty when I could destroy it and make funny shapes in the ground...

The rendering engine is quite inefficient but its also the fact that the computer has to track all the stats and shit from the buildings, cars, people, etc that really bogs it down, obviouly with larger cities. Also the shear amount of polys a huge city would generate would probably have something to do with it. I think in PC Gamer they mentioned that ATI Radeons weren't even supported at first. Some "hardware deficientcy". Probably a bribe from Nvidia. I have all the Sim Citys, including the 3000 expansion pak
