The die has been cast...

I've gone to the polls, and you all know what I did. The points that Tempus has brought up just show even more clearly that what the people decide doesn't really matter.

By the way, after reading Ironfist's comment I checked the ballot for the CHP, but they don't appear to have a candidate in this riding. I did, however, see a candidate for the Marxist/Leninist party. The ballot looked like this:

NDP
Marxist/Leninist Party
Liberal Party
PC

The colours indicate where they fall on the political spectrum, just so you know that I wasn't trying to show that the PC stands out above the rest.

Does anyone see anything wrong with the balancing of the choices here? There is only one party that even "claims" to uphold traditional values. We might be better off to cut it back down to a two party system, like the US. At least that would prevent the Gov. General from putting a party into power that lost the election.

Liberal Minority

All in all I am pretty happy, I think it's a good thing that the Liberals will have to answer to someone else. Also, this is going to be quite a tight minority for the them, looks like they might just barely make it by joining with the NDP (That independent guy could be the swing vote, lol). In 1979 when the Conservatives lost the vote of confidence they had 136 seats in the house.

They could've had less and they'd still be sitting pretty like they are now. The NDP will almost never vote with the Tories and the Bloc most likely never will.

For a while there we were gonna have a Commie in. Would've been interesting. The non "big 4" had better turnouts this year.

I think that if the NDP and the Liberals can't form a coalition, there is a chance the Conservatives and the Bloc might allie just to force another ellection.

I wonder what voter turnout was like in the second election in 1979.

Post the voter turnouts for your respective areas, and we can keep a kalnet record of how poorly Canada showed its interest in government as a whole and in various areas.

From the voter turnout, I would say that between 40-45% of Canadians are anarchists, that is if I didn't already know they are too apathetic for their own good. If people want the country to fall apart because of governments that don't reflect the desires of the entire country, I say let them do what they want. They have no right to say anything when things don't go the way they want.

Most likely not gonna happen. The NDP realize their place.....the Liberals lap-dog this round. The Bloc might side with the Tories every now and then just to stir sh!t, but "Western cowboy" and "Snooty Frenchman" do not mix.
