NOT only are they suing him personally but the church as well for discrimination. There has been NO hoop-la over this because the gov't is PRO gay and thus the press follows the govt. I mean did any of you guys hear about this case? I didnt until last time he visited.

Now I am sure that we can all agree that this law suit is wrong, and that as Ghost said the church and state are separate and therefore the gov't has no right to force the church to do anything. Now, I believe that the church and state should be totally separate and in a perfect world they would be, but our country isn't quite there yet, and one of the last threads is marriage. Marriage is still basically both a religious and a legal bond, and because it is both of these things it gives the Gov't some right to say too whom the church must perform this union. It the church was willing to make things totally separate then this wouldn't be a problem, but they don't want to give up that power because then basically this religious union would not be recognised by the state and the gov't would give out their own legal union to whom ever they wanted.
This sets up very dangerous presendent (sp?) because that means that Raven, TSB and myself could be charged for discrimination right now because we are EXPRESSING our own opinion.
I think that anyone would be hard pressed to convince themselves that your posts on this board constitute a hate crime. You are not speaking to a large group and there is no way your comments are going to incite violence. That's like saying that if I made a post about not liking catholics or jews I would be arrested.
did you know that EVERY civiliation with OUT FAIL that has adopted homosexuality into main stream has either been OBLITERATED or is so far down the line.
This is true of every great civilization except the current one, which I am sure will one day fall as well, regardless of it's views on homosexuality.
"Gays" should have rights, but not more rights the the rest of us. "Gays" should not have the right to prosicute someone for what there vews are and what they beleave.
Like Ghost said, this dosen't give rights to "Gays" in particular it gives everyone the right to persecute someone if they commit a hate crime against them based on their sexual orientation, straight or gay.
Sure, you have to look at the big picture, but the religious beliefs of you and I have nothing to do with law (yes I realize that many of our laws are drawn from religion, just bear with me
The reason for this is that back in the day Religion was basically the only moral compass and so alot of our laws were based on it. Society has since evolved to the point where we no longer need religion to tell us what is right and wrong, so the state can operate independently of the church.
