Gentlemen, we got 20 calls about the David Hyde-Pierce incident. And as you know, one call equals a billion people, which means 20 billion people were offended by this

The video's are pretty cool, I enjoyed the one with the 10GB image. It ran really smooth, but I like how they never showed how long it took to load. Still, overall it was pretty impressve.

Athlon Operton = teh no for me
Athlon 64 = teh no for me
Athlon 64 FX 940 pin = teh no for me
Athlon 64 FX 939 pin = teh yes for me (motherboard doesn't matter right now).

4rth option gives me dual channel, competition against P4 EE (and, most likely, Prescott), and no need for ECC RAM. Cheap, but fast.

Good thing I'm buying in February, eh? ;)

EDIT:

(note that Athlon 64 = teh yes for me depending on cost of FX.........$733 US for the proc alone is a bit much.............though, the 64 isn't a much better deal at $417 US...............however, the 64 should massively drop by next year...........gonna have to sit on this one, folks).

I thought that you were considering getting a low end Opteron because it could give you the dual channel at a lower price than the Athlon 64 FX.

The Athlon FX is that low end Opteron.

At first, they will be exactly the same (except the may suffer from the 9500 np to 9700 pro mod............some of the cache might not work so they bin it to a FX). The first 940 pin FX's will have the Opteron's hypertransport links. The 64 does not. Later FX's will have 939 pins and the same Hypertransport system as the 64. Basically, the later FX will have the dual channel of the Opteron, but the Hypertransport levels of the 64.

Plus, the FX right now is extremely expensive because it is meant to compete with the extremely expensive P4 EE.

The 64 launch went well, but there's still a bunch of dust floating around that I feel will (hopefully) settle by February of next year.
