Everquest is really nothing more than an online camp-fest that is too expensive, and dungeon siege is short and just another D2 clone.
I suggest Morrowind. Its a First/Third person RPG. Heavy on system requirements but something you can build an interesting character with and sink HOURS into (notice the capitalization of hours).

Nature is bountiful where idiots are concerned
No, they arent breasts, they're personalities, because its ok to like a girl for her personalities
It takes a big man to cry, but it takes a bigger man to laugh at that man

and it has 2 expansion paks already. My Everquest junky friend says that an up coming one called Horizons is gonna be cool. Of course most games are cool in concept, but she said if it was good, she'd be done with Everquest, which is saying something considering she has a level 50 some odd character and I believe 60 is the highest level.
When Steven Seagal kills a ninja, he only takes its hide. When Chuck Norris kills a ninja, he uses every part.
Chuck Norris and Mr. T walked into a bar. The bar was instantly destroyed, as that level of awesome cannot be contained in one building.

If you're into the whole MMOG scene, I'd recommend Dark Age of Camelot. Be warned that there is a monthly fee, though.
Sorry I couldn't be of more help. Not really my category of choice.

It's an rpg and we dont seem to do alot of that. Also the 10 dollar a month thing puts people off. Im guessing that the huge amount of subscribers means its have decent. Everquest is only online. Morrowind is full priced. Just a normal buy once game, no online. Everquest is buy, then pay every month. A lord of the rings rpg is in development and there is already a really old one. Ask Angmar about that one.

Yes, there were two LOTR games put out by Interplay a while ago. I'm not sure why they didn't make a third, cause the two they did make were pretty sweet. They were basically The Fellowship and The Two Towers. Top-down, party style, the first one having tons and tons of sidequests and extra areas. The Two Towers was slightly less free-form, and of course had the action split between the different groups. I loved them both, but they might be tricky to get running on a new comp.
Morrowind is an amazing game, probably one of the only ones where I wanted to just step through the screen. For the majority of the time, the world looks so real and alive I couldn't believe it. One thing to keep in mind, if you want to keep Morrowind fun: don't power-level, or play it like D2. Roleplay your character, create one type of character and stick with it, don't just grab all the huge items and run around killing everything. Might sound like fun, but it's not.
It also has tons of player-made content, and several official plugins, in addition to the two official expansion packs that probably add around 20-30 hours each to the game. Excellent product support and commitment to quality.
Everquest, from what I've heard and seen at *cough work cough* is basically like D2 in 3d. There's no roleplaying, you just kill monsters in groups, looking for better loot and leveling up. It has so many people playing cause there is a semblance of fun in doing this. After a while you'll catch on that it's completely repetetive, and not much fun. I wouldn't advise it, specially cause you're paying like $15/month.
Also, I might recommend Might and Magic IV through VI. M&M 3 is kinda too rusty to be enjoyed now, I think, but 4 and 5 are still good. They're old games. Movement square by square and stuff, but fun, non-linear, and full of interesting quests, items and locations. M&M6 was the last "good" one of the series, as far as PCG is concerned, and having seen a bit of 7 I can understand why. M&M 6 is free movement, and fairly non-linear, also chock full of quests and other fun things. All three are first-person party games, and 4 and 5 can be joined together to create a final huge quest.
And of course there is Baldur's Gate, and its many heirs. If you like those type of games, but want something a bit different Planescape Torment might be good to try. You're given your central character, trying to find out your past with the help of lots of cool PC and NPCs, and you can develop your character as you wish.
Hope that helps you a bit.
