Ran out of title room, but you can include eXTCY with that list, too.

Technically, the Epiphany/EOS/eXTCY/Vibe and SP1/G1 are slightly different than the Ion platform. However, I consider the changes minor enough that they're just upgrades. To each their own.

Mount a Rip Clip on your SP1 (see attachments).

Or just buy this guy's:
http://www.mcarterbrown.com/forums/misc ... ost2330844

He's got it for $160 shipped in the US. That should give you an idea of how much it would cost to do this for yourself.

Apparently, Tom Kaye's "tongue test" is the new standard.

SP-1 firing and then Sean Scott sticks his tongue in:

Performance mods for the Ion:

http://www.pbnation.com/showthread.php? ... id=1038010

EDIT:

It basically gives the Ion the chamber volume tweaking of the Epiphany.

Dwell comparisons:

I will this weekend. I dont have them with me right now, or I would. But this weekend I get to see my markers again.

The minimum dwell determines how fast the bolt can go forward.

Stock bolt - 27-30 ms
Stock Bolt + Smart Parts QEV = 15ms
Stock bolt + QEV = 13-14ms
L7 + QEV = 12ms

As you can see, the qev is the most determining factor in the bolt speed. You do get a couple ms from the techt tho. You got to also remember because there is a bigger firing chamber for the techt L7, the operating pressure is also lower which means it will blow forward with a bit less force (offsets the need for the tail o-ring.) But again, this doesnt really make a difference.

http://www.techpb.com/forum/index.php?s ... try2152191

did a comparison of the bolts and the techt's stem is the same size of the rear portion (counterbalance) of the stock bolts stem. The difference in the size of the holes in the bolt stop is almost double (techt being smaller)

Ive got more data with my Ion xe (the other data set was from my Sp-1 BH), while comparing the different bolts.

Minimum dwell:
Stock bolt with clippard QEV - 8ms
L7 with clippard - 7ms
Stock No QEV - 26ms
Pressure: 160 psi for both.

Ill make sure to do a test with the L7 and no qev, as well as chrono data to see if the operating pressure is different, and if it affects bolt speed and possibly efficiency.

http://www.techpb.com/forum/index.php?s ... try2159152

So I was comparing visually the techt bolt to the stock one and was wondering if the claims techt made have any substance. So I decided to test the claim on their website:

Quote
Lower pressure, shorter dwells, faster rates of fire, better efficiency, lower sound signature, teflon impregnation...the works.

Lower pressure:
Yes. The tech t bolt does lower the operating pressure. Chronoed the techt at ~300 fps average at 160 psi. Swapped out bolts. Chronoed stock bolt. ~272 average@ 160 psi. Put the L7 back in, changed operating pressure to 150 psi chronoed at ~272 average. (1/4 turn of sidewinder reg)

The guage is not all that accuate (as most guages are not) so figures are estimates but the trend is clear. The techt bolt does lower opersting pressure.

Dwell:
@160 psi with clippard QEV on an Ion xe:
- Techt bolt: 7ms critical dwell
-Stock Bolt: 8ms critical dwell

Comparing with equal chrono at 272 fps. techt- 150psi, stock- 160 psi:
- Techt bolt:7ms critical dwell
- Stock Bolt: 8ms critical dwell

SP1 with smart parts 360 QEV @ 270 fps
- Techt bolt: 12ms critical dwell
- Stock bolt: 13.5ms critical dwell

Ion xe without qev @160 psi
-Techt bolt: 21ms critical dwell
- Stock bolt: 25ms critical dwell

Discussion: The techt does provide a shorter dwell but it is a very small factor compared to the QEV. With a qevd gun, a bolt upgrade will only save 1 or 2 ms of dwell, which is very minimal.
With a stock sp-1, ion or vibe the L7 will not travel fast enough to get rid of the " low force bolt" feature. Although a 4ms difference w/o QEV will be a tad harder on paint, it will not be noticable to any extent.

Also, which i found very interesting was that an fps change of ~30 (10 psi change in operating pressure) did not affect the bolt speed at all.

Rate of fire:
As seen above a 1ms dwell difference will provide a small fraction of an increase in ROF. But this is very marginal and insignificant. The loader will be the determining factor in ROF anyways, so going from 25bps to 25.3, or even 26 wont matter.

Efficiency:

Will test in the future. Just because the operating pressure is lowered does not mean the bolt is more efficient. This will need to be tested.

Sound signature:

Do not have the equipment at the moment to test this.

Teflon Impregnated:

Im sure it is.

FSDO- this isnt in their advertisement, but they do say FSDO can be turned off. This will be tested at a later date.

Conclusion: So far the claims have stood up. Some of the claims such as dwell decrease, and ROF increase are marginal at best. Others need to be tested.

Walkable mech ion:

yeah... so I set out to make a publicly acceptable model, so begins Vespa 2.0

Ingredients: Redz Ion
Clippard PAVO-3
Clippard QEV x2
Fabco MSV-2
Hoses and barbs
Unknown brand LPR

So the old version had a terrible Rube Goldberg style engine that was JB'd together.

So scratch that. In comes the PAVO-3 a normally open air piloted 3 way. Think the SMAV-3 but on steroids. The flow rate is high enough where the QEV almost isnt necessary, but I like it anyway.

Here is the Fabco mounted. I drilled the back of the trigger and put in a pin to hit the valve instead of the actual trigger, this way I could mount it higher (giggity) and have a lighter pull.

Then I installed the 3way and all the hoses, some filing was needed to get it to fit, shes a fatty McFat valve.

Lpr installed right off the ASA and a hole drilled in the bottom of the frame for the air hose. Not too bad if I dont say so myself.

She's fast, I've yet to hit a max ROF. My only concern is outrunning the LPR, but I have a volumizer on hand just in case. It runs at such a low pressure though that I could just crank up the LPR slightly to compensate.

I think I'll leave the power button there just to screw with people...
