I heard that they don't, unless you've got power

Well, this one has a mechanical switch.

It'd be akin to Marty suddenly having an outboard motor and hull pop out ;)

I am really considering getting one of these, since i was thinking about an electronic X7 anyways.

The cons I see so far are no rails, and I would need an electronic hopper.

Thoughts? Pros vs Cons?

Are those your only 2 options?

Are you open to buying used or is new a requirement?

What's your budget?

Your options greatly depend on the answers to those questions.

I'm open to suggestions.

Used is OK.

Up to $500 MAX.

After sleeping on it, Mil-Sim is still very important to me. ie: tactical sling, colapsible stock, picatinny rails, etc

If Milsim a requirement:

-Used Phenom or BT if you prefer Tippmann.
-Used SP-1 / G-1 for your bang-for-buck.

A used AGD Tac-One would be your best bet, I think, but it's not electronic. It's still just as fast on semi with ULT, though. A used ETac would be above your budget.

What do you have now? Is an E-grip an option?

If you wanted the best of both worlds you could also consider a used Etha plus the EMC kit. It would likely be on the upper limit of your budget, though.

The Etha with rail kit is the current front runner.

I'm going to presume this was before our talk last night. Lemme throw out what's around sometime this late afternoon.

I emailed you some possible buys. I focused on the Phenom and Etha as that was what it seemed you were interested in.

If inline gas is important and you don't require milsim, you may want to check out the Mokal Aura. It's made in Mississauga and Valken just bought them out. They're pretty cheap NIB. Cheers.

Reviews are starting to trickle in:

http://www.mcarterbrown.com/forums/2339421-post1.html

http://www.mcarterbrown.com/forums/2322826-post187.html & http://www.mcarterbrown.com/forums/2333872-post196.html

Seems like it suffers from from trigger bounce. Bad for the NPPL, good if you're playing rec and want to paint somebody from head to toe while still, honestly, being able to say "No worries, guys. I set it to semi."

Trigger Bounce:

Trigger bounce is basically your gun reading non-existent trigger pulls because of vibrations, excess trigger movements, inadequate board settings, or too close of a trigger pull.

http://www.paintballforum.com/2046075-post3.html

Contact bounce

Snapshot of switch bounce on an oscilloscope. The switch bounces between on and off several times before settling.
Contact bounce (also called chatter) is a common problem with mechanical switches and relays. Switch and relay contacts are usually made of springy metals that are forced into contact by an actuator. When the contacts strike together, their momentum and elasticity act together to cause bounce. The result is a rapidly pulsed electric current instead of a clean transition from zero to full current. The effect is usually unimportant in power circuits, but causes problems in some analogue and logic circuits that respond fast enough to misinterpret the on-off pulses as a data stream.[5]
The effects of contact bounce can be eliminated by use of mercury-wetted contacts, but these are now infrequently used because of the hazard of mercury release.
Contact circuits can be filtered to reduce or eliminate multiple pulses. In digital systems, multiple samples of the contact state can be taken or a time delay can be implemented so that the contact bounce has settled before the contact input is used to control anything. One way to implement this with an SPDT Switch is by using an SR Latch.[6]

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Switch#Contact_bounce
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/c ... Switch.png

When a switch is actuated and contacts touch one another under the force of actuation, they are supposed to establish continuity in a single, crisp moment. Unfortunately, though, switches do not exactly achieve this goal. Due to the mass of the moving contact and any elasticity inherent in the mechanism and/or contact materials, contacts will "bounce" upon closure for a period of milliseconds before coming to a full rest and providing unbroken contact. In many applications, switch bounce is of no consequence: it matters little if a switch controlling an incandescent lamp "bounces" for a few cycles every time it is actuated. Since the lamp's warm-up time greatly exceeds the bounce period, no irregularity in lamp operation will result.

However, if the switch is used to send a signal to an electronic amplifier or some other circuit with a fast response time, contact bounce may produce very noticeable and undesired effects:

The original controversy over trigger bounce that, unsurprisingly, Bill Gardner and the All Americans used to their advantage:
http://www.warpig.com/paintball/technic ... ndex.shtml

After the meeting, Bill Gardner of Smart Parts, Tom Kaye of Airgun Designs, John Rice of WDP and Bud Orr of Worr Games Products held a private meeting.

Imagine being a fly on the wall at that meeting.
