HP Touchpad

Post by Ghost [PX] »

Has anyone else besides Bob and myself snagged one of these?

Its both a shame and a blessing that HP panicked when they did. The hardware is solid and the CyanogenMod Team is making excellent progress porting Android 4 over to this device. I've been using the Alpha 2 release with no crashes and only a couple minor problems for a while now.

Also, WebOS isn't too shabby either.

Seriously, I got mine for $200 on Craigslist with a case and a bluetooth keyboard. There are some excellent deals out there and its a nice piece of hardware if you want a tablet.

It takes about 20 minutes to flash Android on once you start. Its really quite easy.

Seriously, just check craigslist and Kijiji. You'll pay a bit more than the fire sale price, but still dirt cheap for what you get.

I think Tyler is running Icecream Sandwich and he hasn't complained about it at all.

I'm running the Alpha 2 of Cyanogen Mod 9 and its pretty rock solid which is Ice Cream Sandwich. I've had a few minor issues with Apps, but its more than stable enough for daily usage. Besides, once you get CWM installed it easy to flash to other roms or wipe off an existing one.

Mine is also Running Alpha 2.
Tyler is running the Nightly builds on his and I am thinking of giving that a whirl as well.

All in all, I think I prefer Android to WebOS, bugs and all.
