very much a console port -- but excellent story and good RPG character development.

Not a PC shooter though. Uses sticky cover and 3rd person shooting.

I'm actually in the middle of this right now and really enjoying it. They managed to capture some of the spirit of the original.

I'd say it's more of a hybrid. Despite the sticky cover there are still a lot of first person elements.

definitely its a shooter, but I noticed a weird disconnect in the way the engine ran when I played it for a couple hours and then played some other FPS that was designed for PC like TF2 or the like.

Just along the concept that it was a port, developed for console, hacked to work for PC.
When in doubt, nuke it from orbit...
