This is actually pretty cool. I might try to put one of these together for next season. I'll probably try to modify it to launch some kind of paint grenade instead though.

Water balloons are where it's at. Mix up your own paint and instant mortar. Could make some of the games a lot more interesting.

I have most of the parts, and they just need to be assembled.
Jason, do you have any extra tops for those 12g changers?

Define "top." The cylinder or the part that screws in the ASA?

Re: LAW / Nerf / Water Balloon / Grenade Launcher
I was only able to find one more, but I kinda wanted to keep it for a stock class project.

It turns out they have these at flagswipe in London as well for $20. Which is a pretty good price considering they are about $14 even on e-bay direct from China.

Re: LAW / Nerf / Water Balloon / Grenade Launcher
Construction complete. I went with a longer, strait design that I think works well. A little more paint and a strap/cap system and it will be finished.
Jon and I also built one for him to spec form the KipKay version, and one that is strait like mine but with a 3' barrel.
Does anyone know of a good place to find the Nerf Rockets? I found some on eBay, but local would be better.

I'll check out some dollar stores on my way home.
Do you have a picture of the type of rocket you'd like? Dimensions?

Re: LAW / Nerf / Water Balloon / Grenade Launcher
Do you think the water balloons will survive the initial blast of CO2?
My worry is that the balloon will burst in the barrel.

Re: LAW / Nerf / Water Balloon / Grenade Launcher
I think it can be made to survive it, yes.
Sabot
Mortar
Bazooka
I had this discussion with Homey J and Neb. To do so, I think a "dump" chamber with a reg and psi gauge is the easiest way. Then you could adapt it to use hpa or a co2 tank rather than a 12'vie per shot. It would help keep costs down and you could fine tune your range (ie. 60psi at 25 degrees = 100ft, etc.) especially with the mortar setup. A plum-bob and protractor could be fitted as per the vid.
I have a metal one that was created by an aerospace engineer and his professional steam pipe fitter father. It comes with a gauge filler and has been built to specs high enough that it can shoot water at a high enough speed to damage plywood. With the stove pipe adapter, we shot nuts and bolts through a couple of pieces of plywood. Obviously, we wouldn't use those settings for water balloons. Not only would it be unsafe, it would completely shear the balloons and make a giant mess.
Redhead guy is the aerospace engineer.
It could be modified to fire whatever we like. The easiest solution would be to clamp a wide barrel on the tip and set it up as a mortar by Homey B's shop (ie. next to the compressor). What with the gauges and only using it as a balloon mortar, it would actually be one of the safest implementation of this idea.
The guy from the vids claims a range of 400 to 700ft. is possible so I imagine we could achieve that. That would, basically, make it so that we could rain down balloons across the entire farm. Well, as long as you could clear the structure within the line of sight.

The ones that we built DO NOT fire water balloons. They OBLITERATE them. haha

Neat toy but not very useful if it can toss paint.
Maybe there is a thicker type balloon we could try?
I also like the regulator Idea.
