So, TV prices may be going up. I *imagine* that the rare earth mines in Canada are rejoicing right about now as they will definitely see some interest from investors in bringing them fully online.

Yeah, this kind of investment is a no brainer. You have a situation where you are betting as to whether or not China politicizes economic policy that affects the entire world. That's a pretty easy bet IMO. You know they love having North America over the barrel.

The Rare Earth play that most people are going to be taking is Molycorp, basically the only rare earth pick in North America that is actually producing at their mines at this point. Its what people know. My pick is Quest Rare Minerals Ltd. A Canadian company that is not in production yet. It is thought that once Wall Street analysts get their shit together and figure out how to appropriately judge the value of a rare earth stock Quest Rare Minerals is going to skyrocket, based on their very low valuation right now as well as their very high basket price on each representative kilogram of ore they pull out of the ground.

Now there is risk for a couple reasons, first of all lots of these companies aren't in production, so they aren't actually generating any profit, their stock price is pure speculation. The other problem is that if China devotes the bulk of its rare earth production for domestic use, the high tech manufacturing industry may attempt to find a way to produce their products without rare earth minerals. I feel safe from that however, since it would take a couple of years to transition over, would be costly and really I feel like Quest will be hitting its stride within 3 years.
