Hillbilly Hell (NSFW........As Usual)

Post by THE JEW (RaVeN) »

So, uh, yeah I "came across" this range.

Hillbilly_Hell.jpg

Hillbilly Hell aka Hamburger Hill aka Pork Chop Hill was granted permission to enter combat this past Sunday in the year of our Lord, Twenty-Eleven.

Brief Overview:

The Home Plantation has a few different styles of play available. Due to an abundance of machinery, highly detailed simulation-style tournaments *may* be a possibility. Please refer to the pics for an outline of the property.

House Rules:

As always, a work in progress....

1. Stay outta the fields.
2. Your problems are your problems.
3. Trying to make your problems the old man's problems will result in him showing you his paintball gun.

TIP: His fire lead and if a guy in Vancouver can almost get away with hiding 50 hookers on a pig farm before getting caught............

Other rules of gameplay to be predetermined, but will likely follow in the spirit of KTPPG

Image Explanations:

Please reference Property_Overview.jpg and Property_Google.jpg

Red Enclosure:
-isolated and surrounded by fields so there's no question about limits
-tall tress with small scrub
-visibility in the 100 to 150ft range
-likely best for large, teamwork-based modes

Magenta Enclosure (North):
-flat lands that can be grass-like or marsh-like depending on waterfall
-visibility in the 1000ft range
-has a man-made lake with a large tree off to the side. Lake is surrounded by scrub
-likely best for stealth based, timed modes (it provides cover with the possibility of an all-out firefight when time gets near the end)

Magenta Enclsoure (South):
-flat lands that can be grass-like or marsh-like depending on waterfall
-visibility in the 1000ft range
-has a SHIT lake that will be marked off. Reference Rule 2. heavily. You CANNOT swim across it. You will die. Horribly.
-best used as a supplement to orange, green, and blue areas (ie. not a primary location)

Orange Enclosure:
-in high water, an island; in low water, a peninsula
-water (when low) was still in the 2ft range close to the banks
-surrounded by flatlands to the north and east with heavy brush to the north-east
-visibility in the 50 to 150ft range
-would allow for defence-based modes and bridge defences

Green Strip:
-2m high cliff adjacent to the creek and island
-visibility varies greatly (100ft to the island; 1000ft on the lanes
-would allow for defence-based modes where a fort could be placed on the corner. Attacking such could be done by adjacent northerly and easterly lanes or by going Rambo-crazy taking the island and then fording the creek to storm the Bastille.

Blue Enclosure(s):
-heavy brush with much scrub
-visibility probably tops out around 50ft
-hills, valleys, creeks, thick brush, swamp, marsh...............you want the jungle, you've got it.
-either side surrounds a lane-way to the back field. This presents an excellent Ho Chi Minh Trail that's formidable enough that Homey B's truck got buried up to the axle.

Potential Expansion:

While not cleared for "take off" yet, the following machinery is on site to aid in earthworks:
-Caterpillar D7 bulldozer
-Caterpillar pull-scrapper
-Massey Ferguson backhoe
-Ford 7700 loader
-Steiger reciprocating "Big Jim" tractor

ie. a $hitload of dirt can be moved if need be.

Real trench warfare is a distinct possibility. Fallen, dead trees are at our disposal on-site.

Prep Zone:
Will likely need to vary due to the size and location chosen.

No Fire Zone:
Stay out of the fields, stay out of the neighbour's forest (as of now.........may be able to open it up, too), and stay away from buildings.

Conclusion:
While KTPPG provides an excellent urban-based location, if woodsball is desired Hillbilly Hell can provide an alternative location. With a variety of land types, we can pick and choose to our liking. I, personally, believe the Blue Enclosure would be sup-optimal. The Red Enclosure is also pushing the limit, but I don't know what visibility ranges people want. I got the impression people were unimpressed with KTPPG woodsball as there was little cover. Defence-based modes or assault-based modes around the cliffs, islands, and flatlands could have a lot of promise. Simulation-based combat could thrive depending on group input.

Pretty sweet, looks like there is a lot of potential, especially with the ability to modify the terrain with the machinery you mentioned.

How long does it take on foot to reach the orange/green area?

Awesome. Everyone knows that I want to get into the woods.

My next Sunday off is either the 10th or 17th. Not to be selfish, but it would be cool if we went there when I was available :P

it is a long walk, 3 to 4 times the whole length of the pound at my place.
I have walked through it with J, it is going to be great.

We will need to build some bridges though lol.

From the road, it's about 300m (1000ft) so it will take..........well, how fast do you walk? ;)

Depending on how many show, we could just park in the valley further south on the lane (stay outta the crops!). Or just load everybody up in the back of a pickup and do a drop-off.

Sunday afternoon's should be fine. I, ironically, might not be able to start with you if the owner requires I help him sort/ship hogs. Start time would be 1330 to 1400 likely. Quite frankly, people may want to drop on by first to scope out the lay of the land. Weekends I'm home are your best bet. Unannounced visitors will likely be treated as trespassers and disposed of as such. As for playing, just kinda showing up and expecting things to fly will likely flop as there's a $h!t tonne of ground to cover. Homey J and I took just over an hour just to explore all the areas.

I would heartily recommend pre-planning even if it's just on the back of a napkin.

Yeah, I talked to Bob and he recommended we head over there after we finish playing on Sunday to check things out and make some kind of plan for possibly a joint event on the 10th where we spend half the day at each field. So anyone who want's to stay late on Sunday can head over with us as long as that's cool with Jason.

He said that he thought the distance between zones was large enough we should probabyl drive from zone to zone.

Homey B's truck does not recommend the drive between blue sections, however ;)
