Well Boys and Girls

The good old days are about to come to an end, thanks to Bell Canada

http://www.crtc.gc.ca/eng/archive/2009/2009-484.htm

Basically on Nov 10 their new pricing policy comes into effect.

WEEP WEEP FOR THE MURDER TORRENT SITES

Oh as a side note, a bell rep told my boss that anyone who needs more the 40Gb Up+Down is doing illegal things lol

Yeah, I briefly touched on this in the "Net Neutrality" thread and this is one of the reasons I would like to get our satellites up and running. This will be fought in the courts, but will most likely lose (unfortunately).

And, despite what everyone thinks, it's not mainly about torrents. It's about being able to double-charge you for the HD content of the future that is downloadable. This will make it so that you either have to buy their HD television or pay for the shows through "excessive" bandwidth charges.

This just highlights another reason people are sick of the CRTC and want them disbanded. Do something useful with your Facebook page and join the "Disband the CRTC" group.

Or just continue to creep on underage weemens. Whatever suits your fancy.

CRTC puts forth net neutrality rules:

They're not exactly in our favour.

On the issue of "electricity is metered.......why shouldn't bandwidth be?" that ISP's keep bringing up, they leave out this little detail:

The utility companies are government watched and regulated. Who here thinks that will happen with bandwidth?

The lack of hand-raising does not surprise me :(

Well, it happened:

http://news.slashdot.org/story/10/05/07 ... ?art_pos=1

Usage based billing. Notice how those who use less don't get charged less? It was just an excuse to charge more.

Does Rogers/Cogeco/cable in general have this nonsense?
