Multimedia Program to replace media center

Post by [Fallen]Thumperup »

I am far to lazy to look it up. What is the multimedia program for Linux to XP's media center.

I know someone showed me it can't remember what it was called.

MythTV?

If so, this is probably your easiest bet:

http://www.mythbuntu.org/

Just pop in the disc.

As per the "Super Cheap HTPC" thread in this Linux section, here's a review of it per 7.10:

MythTV leaves alot to be desired though... Media Centre is the way to go, and the new Vista one is even better than the XP version.

Gentlemen, we got 20 calls about the David Hyde-Pierce incident. And as you know, one call equals a billion people, which means 20 billion people were offended by this

Well, Neb might have a point if Thump doesn't want to setup the codecs. Granted, it's about the same amount of work to install ffdshow in either operating system, but Thump would be more accustomed to Windows (I pressume).

Though, recommending Windows in the Linux forum is slightly bad form ;)

You know me well, the easier the better, but I also like to look at all alternatives.
