Found an interesting article about Nvidia and their efforts with the NV30 (GFFX). An interesting read for any hardware enthusiast.

No, they arent breasts, they're personalities, because its ok to like a girl for her personalities
It takes a big man to cry, but it takes a bigger man to laugh at that man

well i have been off information on the FX i didn't even know about the 5200. Im geusing its a slower and cheeper version of FX am i right. Just wondering if by any chance you have any info or benchmarks on the 9800 because if it dont blow the 9700 out of the water then why the hell buy it. This is the same problem they are having withe the FX. New vid Cards are comming out and well they are just now passing the 9700. Somone make a damn Vid card that blows the 9700 out of the water and then i will be interested but untill then my pick is still the 9700. Shure pricy but hay if i were to spent $500 for a 9700 i would not spend $700 for a FX for just like maby 50 more fps.

The 9800 Pro 128 mb version is roughly 5-10% faster than 5800 Ultra overall (though, things are constantly changing what with driver updates, the cards not being released to retail, yada yada).
No one knows how much faster the 9800 Pro 256 mb DDR II 0.13 u is compared the 5800 Ultra.
Speed and efficiency improvements make the computing world go round. The 9800 also has more programmability than the 5800 and a loop so that it, in theory, could do anything anyone ever programmed for it (ie. no limit to the loop size when programming for opengl).
5200, from preliminary reports, is the BEST new budget card. Roughly the same price as the Ati Radeon 9000 Pro, but with DirectX 9 (even though it will run Direct X 9 stuff so slow it's not worth buying just for that feature) and faster. Ati is rumoured to be retooling their 9200 line to be more competitive. Nvidia got their value line done right (though, there's much arguement over their mid and high range stuff).
Nvidia also is releasing the 5600 card. Google or neoseek for the appropriate previews.
Besides, none of us aside from Mitchell are ever gonna buy them. If yer really against technological progress, sell your comp, buy a horse, and go Amish, baby! Besides, let them release insanely fast, insanely expensive cards--it makes our mid-range stuff all that much cheaper

An interesting look at Nvidia's offices:

I found this to be pretty cool:

I found this to be pretty cool:
The scanning electron microscopes that NVIDIA houses are second to none and have a resolution of approximately 1 nm. On the used market, they’re worth about half a million dollars – I imagine NVIDIA spent much more. There are several other instruments in the small room including this focused ion beam imaging device. Instead of using electrons to image the object (i.e. an electron microscope), the FIB uses a focused beam of gallium ions. These ions have considerably more energy than a typical electron beam. When the gallium ions strike the chip, the atoms of the chip are converted from the solid phase to a gaseous phase. I don’t think these phasers can be set to “stun.”
