You volunteered to do this service to the messageboard community which I'm sure many others would be glad to take up if it's weighing heavy on your shoulders.

Forgive me if I find your complaints largely hyprocritical ;)

Lets take a look at the slander your slinging around here:

hyp·o·crite –noun
1. a person who pretends to have virtues, moral or religious beliefs, principles, etc., that he or she does not actually possess, esp. a person whose actions belie stated beliefs.
2. a person who feigns some desirable or publicly approved attitude, esp. one whose private life, opinions, or statements belie his or her public statements.

You then go on to post three examples of my supposed hypocrisy in the form of threads that I modded.

"Trade Complete" does require a great amount of mental capacity to spew out, I'll admit :P

Though, extra points for the ebay link Thumbs up!!!

Too bad it was the beginning of some evil string posts!

Yes, apparently my hypocrisy knows no bounds...I yell for moderation at every turn yet do no actual modding myself.....oh wait, all of those threads were modded - by me. Thanks for proving yourself wrong.

Next you posted the standard PHPBB rules, which I'm sure people can read above, and came to the following conclusions.

Let's garner something from this:

1. It says nothing of string posting. Proper etiquette and rules are two very different things. One is expected--the other enforced. Thumperups post, while they could have been condensed, were still relavent. I'd mod sh!t posts, but not ones that are on topic.

2. The rules are quite lax. Check out the bolded sections. All of us would have been banned long ago--even the "mysterious" root admin would have been ;)

Yes - the rules are lax, and do you know why that is? Because that's the way the community wants it!! No-one is asking you to ban Thump's account, or freak out and delete all the posts in the Computer Hardware & Software section of the messageboard. All I'm saying is that string posting can decrease the quality of the thread, and ruin the flow of conversation on a topic, and it would be nice if the mods would recognize that and take the time to do somthing about it.

People are free to agree or disagree with me as they choose, and infact I welcome them too, that's what it's all about. If you want to disagree with me on a personal level that's fine, but if you come in swinging your golden hammer of "I'm a mod, I can do what I want" then that's just abuse.

THE JEW (RaVeN) wrote:
3. Third, the license implies that you, as a user, are under the discretion of the webmaster, administrator and moderators.

Good job the rules are lax and I'm not really bound by the license.

THE JEW (RaVeN) wrote:
The underlings don't make the calls.

Of course they do. The messageboard wasn't spawned whole and handed down from god to THE JEW (RaVeN) to do with as he pleases, it was built...piece by piece...by the people that are a part of this community, and it belongs to each of us. Without that community this messageboard wouldn't exist, and each of the moderators works for the community to try to make it a better place.

You run the Trade Forum the way you want. I don't agree with it, but that's not my call. There are 2 people with whom I concern myself when it comes to the runnings of this section--Homey V and Homey B. They ain't b!tchin' so..................
I will take up your concerns with Homey V, we will have a long drawn out discussions, we will weigh both sides of the argument, and then do whatever the h3ll we want :P

If that's the way you really feel then I think your power has truly corrupted you and maybe you don't deserve to be a moderator of anything.

Nai. The point was not that you had modded. The point was that the modding that had occurred was of similar value. Calling me lax on my modding skills while you yourself are just as lax was what was hypocritical--not the act of modding within itself. The RPG section I will concede as you gave us the classic 80's dream sequence to get out of it. And I always love a Commander Keen finish to a Star Wars game :)

The Trading Forum............pffffffffft. Little effort was needed. Calls for modding while the forum, apparently, runs on a 2 year schedule seemed slightly out of place.

Potentially, in 2 years time, this thread may be modded. Again, I feel it's unlikely as I didn't see a problem with the posts and Homey V hasn't voiced his concerns to me.

In fact, I imagine he's sitting back and enjoying this little hissy fit we're having

The lack of modding has gotten to the point that any action will be seen as a freakout. I prefer it that way.

The only thing, quite frankly, that is ruining the flow of this thread were the calls for modding. The thread was on topic, if not with a minor forum etiquette faux pas.

THOR SMASH!!!

Mods are supposed to do what they want (ie. what they feel is best). What's the point of having a thread dictator if they're democratically bound? Forget your misguided republic and join the empire! The Reds have won!

In Soviet forum, moderator moderate you!

Yet with these calls for action, agreement to the EULA may well bite you in the butt. All I know is that when I'm stealing from the cookie jar, I don't go around saying that we should really crack down on the fookers with their hand in Mrs. Voortman's goodies (feel free to take that as you will ;) ). Today you ask for string post modding--what about tomorrow? Your thirst for modding may know no bounds!!! Where does the madness stop? You have joined our anarchy--protest too loudy and you might end up Piggy there, ol' chap.

...........I'll leave root to call that, thank you. Seeing as how he has this shirt:

he may have just done what you speak of ;)

Forgive me while I take a brief moment to go hug a tree and sing Koombaiya. While I find your socialist views on the forum endearing, I can't help but wonder if someone has forgotten this little locational tidbit:

"7 [PX]Kal Bob Stalinist Russia!"

Marx is dead--long live the man of steel!

I still view this section as my personal wiki. Others just happen to post in it ;)

Again, it's not a truly democratic process. And you can't corrupt those already with a black heart ;)
