Taking everything, I quickly put one of the grenades on the ground, and use the grappling hook to hold the safety clip in place (pinning the genade to the ground, but not too solidly), then I pull the pin. I take a second to cover the grenade, hook, and the first meter or two of rope with leaves and dirt, and crawl (loud enough that he will hear roughly where I am) away from the trooper who is searching for me (letting out line as I go). I'll stay behind trees for cover from the coming explosion (and the trooper), and if the trooper comes within a few feet of the grenade I will pull the rope and release the safety.

i am going to draw my axe and crawl close enough for a strike. I will then wait until i can take a clean swipe at his exposed *back* (as in i want to wait until i am behind him)
Gentlemen, we got 20 calls about the David Hyde-Pierce incident. And as you know, one call equals a billion people, which means 20 billion people were offended by this

I radio to Marius: "If you're in the middle of the lake, consider me there ASAP"

I then fly out to the middle of the lake.

Christopher Mendensen - You awake in a daze. Darkness slowly becomes light and you rub your eyes to clear the cobwebs of the past nights slumber. You take a moment to drink in the morning with all your senses. The hum of the ship, the firmness of the pillow, the warmth next to you, and the soft silk sheets sliding against your body. You pull them back and move to sit upright at the side of the bed, your feet cold against the deck plating.

As you do so your companion stirs and emits the slightest of sighs as she repositions herself, moving to fill the warm void you left behind. You turn to look at her and your dream comes back to you in flashes. A station...a ship...a lake...there is a firefight...and finally - her face. It all seemed so real at the time....but now it slips away like fine grains of sand sliding between your fingers. You take a moment to ponder why Marissa is always a rebel in your dreams. As though your subconscious is trying to tell you something about her that your conscious mind can't quite seem to grasp. You put the thought out of your head as you rise from the bed.

You stare out at the stars, walking slowly towards the main observation window of the quarters you share with her. The vast emptiness of space stretches out before you...but you are not frightened - this is your domain. Your gaze falls to the planet filling the lower right quarter of the view port - Raden. It stares back at you like a giant tranquil blue-green eye. Flashes again, longer this time....a jedi...imperial troops...a half-man/half-cat alien....a bounty hunter...and a hidden base. You recognize that some of this must be from your last mission - artifacts of your brain trying to make sense of the stimulus it received in the past few days. Sigma Erandi did not go well...they had not been as eager to join the empire as the report had indicated, and you ended up destroying their orbiting station...as well as the only major inhabited city on the surface. Even the Emperor realized that the Empire could not flourish if she had no citizens, and he would not be pleased with your report. Raden would go better. Her people did not have to die...no-one in their right mind would stand against the might of a super star destroyer...they would capitulate. Raden had to go better.

Somewhere far off in the ship an alarm sounds....its echo muted by the many sets of heavy blast doors between the bridge and your quarters. The sound reverberates in your mind and your vision returns - you see it as though floating above the scene. The stage is a clearing in a wooded glen that opens onto a lake. The players appear to be a squad of imperial troops who are fighting some kind of rebel insurgents.
This time you try to let it flow...not concentrating too much on remembering anything specific...just being in the moment...trying to experience all that your mind will let you. The imperials appear to be losing the battle...some of their number are already disabled. Fortunately, the rebels are not without casualties themselves. You concentrate your will on helping the imperials to victory...guiding them to crush the rebel scum...but it's not working. The Jedi blows one of them up with some kind of improvised explosive, and the cat alien slices one of their heads clean off. Out on the lake an imperial speeder explodes in a ball of fire. Suddenly a Z-95 falls out of the sky and slams into the water with an annoying beeping sound....

You look at the com on the wall and the light flashes at you...it beeps again. You walk over and hit the button.

"Yes Captain?"

Captain Saku's voice crackles over the com.

"Admiral, the prime minister of Raden is on the com sir...he requests to speak with you"

"Tell him any meetings will be at a time of my choosing, and he would do well not to anger me with pointless diplomatic pleasantries"

"Yes sir. I'll tell him ri...."

You flip the switch on the com and cut him off mid sentence. You work your bare shoulders and the last stiffness of the night falls away, your mind beginning to focus on the days work. You try to shake off the imperial deaths you witnessed in your vision, reminding yourself that in reality the rebellion has no chance of success. In a few weeks the Emperor's new battle station will be complete and there will be nothing to stop Imperial expansion. The rebellion will be destroyed, and soon forgotten. You are commander of one of the most powerful warships in the galaxy, and there is nothing that can stand in your way.

It was only a dream....
