Well getting mildly interested in Linux, wouldn't mind if someone were to put one of them in the OS section of the privet members form, seeing that many of you adore Linux and Hate widows, yet for some strange reason, only windows is in the OS section?.....are you picking up on the sarcasm?

Well, it might have to do with the fact that, what with torrents and the universities hosting the ISO's, downloading the newest copy off of them is alway fastest. Not to mention that the OS only downloads what you need/tell it to download.

Ubuntu is the easier one to get going for a first timer, but it's a bit more limited. I got Gentoo installed right on my second attempt (takes a fair bit of reading, though). It's more time consuming, but the end results are usually better overall. If this is for your laptop, I can't comment on either as I've only tried installing on an older desktop. It was a:

Asus A7Pro
AMD Tbred 1700+
768mb SDRAM
Nvidia TNTM64
Creative Soundblaster 128

Ubuntu said my stuff was too old to work; Gentoo worked. My choice between the two was rather simple :lol:
