website costs

Post by Megz »

hey guys I am doing a project for school where we have to pick a business and do all the necessary research and decide if the idea would be feasible. Anyway I am looking for some help in creating a webpage.

My group is looking into creating a website for our business (a student car service that picks students up at home and drives them to school, work, get groceries, sports practices, etc. and then drives them home) and I am looking for some information on website costs to register a domain, or whatever it would be that I have to do. I was just wondering if anyone could help point me in the direction I need to go.

We are also looking for information on how you would set up something that people could enter their visa/mastercard number or paypal account to sign up for the service, and I have no clue how you would do any of this or where I would find the information I needed.

I was also wondering if you guys knew anything about getting people to advertise on a website, like how much they would pay you and where abouts I would locate the people who would do this.

I know you all know more than I do (about this stuff)...so if anyone knows anything please help me out!! It would be greatly appreciated :D

domain names => around 10 dollars pre year U.S.

As for the price of hosting, I don't know I built my own lol.

Depending on how Mission Critical your site is to business, eg. All of the driver logistics is done through and Web Based/E-mail based alter system. You may want to consider renting root access on a dedicated server

paypal takes a % of the amount paid to you, See PayPal site for details.

You have to build a custom interface for the Credit Validation, and a program called ccvs. That is the Linux version anyway. If you are going to use it commercially you need to buy the license for the software, free version may exist, and a Merchant Accounts at the bank to query against.
Requires dedicated POS server with a Dedicated Modem and phone line. (Line can be share but not recommended).

Advertise? List on google, see google.com for details.

Some of the cheapest and best hosting you'll ever get. Helps if you're a member of Genmay, though.
