Politicians Aren't Smart? You're Kidding!

Post by THE JEW (RaVeN) »

Ok, first this senator says that anyone caught downloading mp3's should be hacked into and their computer destroyed:

http://www.heraldnet.com/Stories/03/6/17/17094986.cfm

He went so far as to recommend the Senate change privacy laws to do this illegal act.

Turns out his servers should be some of the first to go:

http://www.wired.com/news/politics/0,1283,59305,00.html

He's using pirated software to run them. Dumb@$$.

Semi-related is this story. Senators shoot down internet privacy law. Hackers think this is stupid. Hackers show why privacy is important on 'net by publishing the first 4 numbers of the senators who shot down the bill's social security cards on the 'net. Senators sue. Dumb@$$3$.

Europe just became "1984"-erized:

http://europa.eu.int/eur-lex/lex/LexUri ... 38en01.pdf

Every single piece of date (ie. internet connections, traffic, email, file sharing, SMS, phone calls, etc.) is to be collected, logged, and available for government use.

Oh joy.

Internet ID. Kinda glad I've got a back up comp from 1999 kicking around.

For now, TPM-equipped computers are primarily sold to big corporations for securing their networks, but starting next year TPMs will be installed in many consumer models as well.

How long do you think before people figure out how to disable it?

No one likes this sort of thing (With the exception of Big Businesses who want to prevent Fraud and the like) and I bet any money the day these things get "Activated" there will be guides on how to remove them.

That I don't doubt. However:

1). Why the h3ll should we need to do it in the first place? Just because cracks will disable it doesn't mean we should hafta crack our system just to get it to work.

2). Online purchases will be a b!tch if they require this.

1)I agree with you 100%. This sort of thing shouldnt exist, but apparently it does.

2)I can only hope that competing companies start releasing hardware without these chips as competition and that companies dont adopt the software.
