I've done a small amount of debloating so now XP looks like 98. Who really needs fade-ins anyways?

it's mostly third party software crashing it.


Thid party code should not be capable of crashing the operating system. That sort of excuse doesnt hold water with me. A stable OS should not be crashed by a badly coded Application. The application should crash and the OS should continue on without problem.

I am going to have to agree, there is no reason that a Third Party app should crash the OS.
KalNet SysAdmin.

Well, so far I'm still on SP1. Just have to wait until midnight to see if I'm safe from having my PC invaded by M$. Or is it 3:00am given the time difference? Oh well.

If it actually does work without problems, I'm not really worried; however, I don't like my PC being violated by uncrupulous corporations. M$ = Spyware. What else can you call their automatic updates scheme?

Well, I'm still on SP1. Either the article was wrong, or simply deactivating the automatic updates is all that's required.
