Revenge of the Sith Make-up Problem

Post by Samurai »

I've been watching some new footage from Episode 3, and I've already spotted a make-up problem.

http://progressive.stream.aol.com/aol/u ... 480_dl.mov

This video shows Anakin with his new scar. First on the right side of his face, then on the left, and then back on the right. Pay attention to Anakin's face and listen for the part where Palpatine says, "They don't trust you Anakin," You will see the mistake. Next thing you know his droid arm will be on the wrong side.

Trivial I know, but most people here seem to be Star Wars nit-pickers.

They probably do it so that the community will point out their errors for them.

Then they check these sites, and fix them afterwards. That or Lucas is a crazy fat rich man who no longer cares and keep screwing us for money because he can...

I'm just reminded of the battle scene in Braveheart, when Wallace is running with his claymore, then it's on his back, then he's got it in his hand again, then it's on his back, and then he's running with a huge battle-axe, then proceeds to hack people up with the claymore.

Same here. I went through the whole thing in slow motion to check it out, and I still didn't catch it. Was it this clip or another?

I'd say there is a good chance that this Make-up problem will not appear in the final film. Trailers often use shots that were cut from the final release or heavily altered shots the get the effect they want. This can include "flipping the negative" which is what I suspect was done here.

Atleast I hope that's what it is....I'd hate to think that Star Wars has gone that far downhill. :?
Also, I saw the trailer that Pinter is talking about...and the problem is pretty obvious. I assumed the effect would be corrected for the film.

I thought it was probably cut footage, but only time will tell.

Well, films often have problems that the majority of people never notice. Some are intentional, some aren't. Look at the "red shoe blaster bolt" from Jedi. I never even knew it existed until I read about it.

Where does that happen? I've never even heard of it.

I can never find it myself. One of the techs got ticked off that Lucas was anally retentive about all the shots lining up. So he decided to pull a trick on him. In one of the ROTJ battles between the troopers and the Ewoks, a red running shoe flies across the scene instead of a blaster bolt.

Ok. I may have to watch all the Ewoks get blasted in slow motion, but that isn't such a bad thing I guess. Anyway, I'll try to spot it when I have more time, and maybe get a screen capture/time index for reference.

When I go home, I can type up the article in which I read about it.

Apparently there is also a tennis shoe in the final space battle in ROTJ and a potatoe in the asteroid field in ESB.
