Star Wars Battlefront

Post by Samurai »

I quickly checked the last few pages of posts, and didn't see anything about this.

Star Wars Battlefront comes out on the 21 of Sept. I don't know who is keeping track of this, but who is waiting for this one to come out? I watched the trailer for the second time today, and just realized how close we are to the release.

For all of you who have watched the trailer, did you accidentally laugh when the Ewok got his head blasted too?

OhAHHH........Thud.
:-({|=

But seriously, does anybody else want to play this game?

By the way, it apparently comes out the same day as the DVD set of the originals.

I *think* you get a playable demo for the Xbox when you buy the boxed DVD's. Yeah, I've been following it. Looks cool, but we'll have to see if it's better than just "Battlefield in the Star Wars universe."

From what I understand the game is supposed to be more strategic, but that's hard to believe. Anything multiplayer will always degenerate into sniper respawn rape. I'm hoping for the chance to use an AT-AT, since it hasn't been done yet. It is shown in the trailer, but they only show the outside.

It also looks like there will be more versatility in the playable units. I recall seeing a rocket pack being used by a clone trooper, and the description of the rebel pilot says it can be used to build structures. That alone is an option that could dramatically affect gameplay, if it's implemented right.

Even if it is just a Battlefield rewrite, I will buy it, but I don't have my own copy of Battlefield, so it's worth it for me.

Meh, Im sick of big Multiplayer games like that.

I want small matches with like 4 people per team.

You can always try the search function to see if there is already a thread on a given topic.

Anyway, this game sounds pretty cool, I'm looking forward to it too. I just hope they do a good job and don't release some kind of cheap knock off.

I already tried a search and the thing didn't work, so I checked the archives.

The one big mistake I think Lucasarts is making with this game, before even playing it, is the lack of a playable Jedi. They could make laser deflection replace the grenade option on the right mouse button, and then the deflection would depend on the player's skill, so it would be harder to play a Jedi and not overpower the game. But I can see how it would complicate things, so it's ok. I'm sure somebody will find a way to map the Jedi character's actions to the standard controls and release a mod. From what I've seen the game looks more intense than the Battlefield games, but I'm also wathcing promo videos that always make games look more intense. I sincerely hope Lucasarts and the game's developers will do a good job with it.

Well, I got it today, and I've been playing on-line most of the night. It's pretty similar to Battlefield, but I think it holds it's own. In this game it takes a lot more than three grenades to kill a vehicle, and reloading doesn't take forever (unless you're being shot at, then it seems to). I love it. I suggest downloading the demo to try it out and see for yourselves. By the way, I know how the Stormtroopers must have felt when they got their butts kicked by a bunch of teddy bears.
