Now the power of DirectX 8 & 9 in an open standard. I imagine the non-Windows world is rejoicing over this. I also imagine that Ati's performance in this version should be considerably better than in version 1.2. They are, after all, one of the key members of the board who helped develop these extensions.
Only time will tell.

Developers getting p!ssed that OpenGL development is so slow that many bugs are still found in it from years ago. Many are starting to switch over to D3D and telling Linux users to use older versions:
