I've checked out the following source, and although everything in the movies points toward the Hob Goblin as the key villain, this early report says otherwise.

http://www.comicbookmovie.com/news/spider-man-3.asp

Summary: With the phenomenal record-breaking success of Spider-Man, fans can look forward to future installments in the adventures of the Marvel hero. Toby Maguire and Kirsten Dunst are signed to return in Spider-Man 3 as Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson. With Spider-Man 2 due in July 2004, Spider-Man 3 should arrive two years later. There is now talk of the appearance of Man-Wolf and Venom!

I don't know how reliable this site is, and the info is old to begin with. More recently (June 7) some villain news was posted here:

Venom, and Hobgoblin.

Work is supposed to start this month, so I'm guessing that the final product will have Hobgoblin, and another minor villain.

As far as the team up between Spidey and DD, I think it would happen later in the series. Kingpin is a common enemy, so I think there could be a team up.

Bah! It's Green Goblin. Harry isn't the Hobgoblin:

I think Venom will be saved for when the series goes to sh!t. The movie execs know that all the comic geeks (read: me) will pay to see Venom running around slobbering no matter what. Heck we'll prolly have Raimi, Macguire, and Dunst all quit due to $...........and then we'll get Venom. Though, they might realize that a Green Goblin/Lizard combo is a bit weak and implant the symbiote 1/2 way thru to draw the focus back to Spiderman. Gonna hafta wait and see, I guess.

Ok, so Green Goblin. I haven't read many of the comics (just an opportunistic comic reader), and I got the Hobgoblin thing from the unlockables in the Spiderman PS2 game.

Yeah, both the links I posted iron out a lot of the minute details. I didn't realize how many Green and Hob Goblins there were until I read the pages.

I never know whether to be annoyed that the movies never follow the comics verbatim or glad that they shrink 100 issues into 2 hrs with a bit of plot twisting. All the comic movies do it. However, in the case of Cat Woman it's definitely bad. Superman, Batman, X-men, the Hulk, the Punisher, and Dare Devil all seemed to follow the comics somewhat closely. I guess it all depends on whether I'm in a Masada or a Luxor Jr. mood.
