Mission 1 Gameplay

Post by Samurai »

The situation:

The briefing was clear enough for anyone to understand: a simple cargo pick-up, followed by the retrieval of several undercover agents, and one young Twi'lek. The journey through hyperspace has given everyone several hours of leisure time, but there is the stark realization that Hoth is a very cold planet, and after spending the last week on a Mon Calimari Star Cruiser that change of climate seems almost cruel.

Ilon - You watch as the brilliant, pulsing blue tunnel of hyperspace peels back into the pinpoints that are stars. Through the viewport of your Firespray you can see a large globe looming in the distance. Beyond that you also see the infamous asteroid belt that has been known to cause problems with the hyperspace routes in this region. A Jedi stands beside you in the cockpit. All of the controls show that everything is as it should be. A monent later you see an X-Wing, and an A-Wing drop out of hyperspace to your right and left respectively.

Rava - As you stand beside Ilon you go over the lessons that you have learned from Master Skywalker. The last you heard from him he was prepairing to search for other force adepts. You remember your last conversation with him before you left for this mission. You then notice that the Firespray has dropped out of hyperspace, and it is accompanied by the X-Wing and A-Wing belonging to your team mates.

Ka - You sit in the cargo hold of the Firespray. There are several others with you, each going about their own business. You are eager to get this mission over with and move on to more important things, but as Master Skywalker has pointed out to you before, you must have patience. You feel the slight but sudden jerk of the ship emerging from hyperspace.

Nagta - You are sitting in the corner of the cargo hold. This ship seems cramped, but then again it was designed by humans, and they don't grow much taller than 2 meters. You are alert as usual, and preparing to go out into the frigid wasteland that is Hoth. You survey the room, noting that Athena is sitting near the opposite wall, and Garmen is busy working on one of his projects, everyone else seems to be relaxing while they can. After all, a Star Destroyer data core is pretty heavy. You feel the ship exit hyperspace, and you are glad to get on with the mission.

Garmen - You are almost completely oblivious to your surroundings as you work on your prototype CPU. You have been talking to it to pass the time, in between work sessions to increase its processing speed.

Cale - You are sitting at a small table built into the wall, observing a holorecording that stars, you of all people. It was made during your years as an actor, and was one of your pride performances. The recording fades for a second as the Firespray emerges from hyperspace.

Athena - You are sitting next to the wall, and Nagta is sitting near the opposite wall. You are holding your blaster in your hand, pondering what the galaxy would be like if politics worked, and people didn't need to resort to violence. The ship exits hyperspace, and you return the weapon to its holster.

Kylin - You put down the datapad you were reading as your R4 unit bleeps a warning. The X-Wing emerges from hyperspace revealing the planet Hoth, and it's infamous asteroid belt. One thought goes through your mind: interesting. You look to your left and see A firespray, and an A-Wing.

Camon - You've managed to get about an hour of sleep, but your computer has just given you your wake-up call. As your A-Wing enters real space you see Hoth, an asteroid field, and the ships of your allies to the right.

When my holorecording briefly dims, I glance up. I look around to see everyone else's reactions, and listen for unusual noises.

I glance over my shoulder at Rava, mutter a brief curse under my breath about "Jedi watchdogs", and then focus my attention towards the planet. I'm going to scan the area to make sure we three are the only ships in the system, while opening a communication channel to the other two fighters (alliance secure, if I have access to that).

After finishing of some of the code I was working on, I'll set the CPU to number crunching (To improve performance and other capabilities) and wander out of the hanger in no particular direction.

While doing this I will be thinking of ways to improve upon my little project and will continue to be fairly oblivious to basically everything.

I am going to scan the area for any hazards that may be flying about in and around the asteroid field. I feel some one may be watching from a distance and it is starting to send shivers down my back. Although it could just be my lack of sleep for the long fly through hyper space that is making me so weiring.

Cale - You glance up from the holo recording noting the reactions of the people around you. Nagta has moved from his previous position, and appears to be looking for something, after a moment you also notice that he has found it. Ka has left the cargo hold, and entered the cockpit. You notice Athena looking around the cargo hold, but it's apparent from the look on her face that her mind is on other things. Garmen does something to the CPU, and you notice that a message appears on his datapad. He follows Ka into the cockpit, still kind of spaced out. The only sound of note is the applause eminating from the holo recording, the last applause that you would ever receive from the Alderaanian royal house, in Alderaan's most hallowed playhouse.

Nagta - You search for some clothing to protect you from the elements while on Hoth.

This is a very easy search roll:
Your Perception is 3D - You must beat a 4.
You roll 16.

You find a crate containing cold weather gear of various sizes. It would have been a suicide mission if the Alliance hadn't provided this clothing. You remove the largest set of clothes from the crate, observing that they are too small to be comfortable, but good enough to protect you. You also notice that Ka and Garmen have left the Cargo hold.

Kylin - You begin your approach vector toward Echo base, and tell R4 to do a sensor sweep of the area. It sounds an affirmative, and begins its task. You hear Ilon over the Comm. with the standard distortion that is used for all secure Alliance transmissions.

"Looks like we made it boys, now lets get down there and get this thing out of there, send me landing co-ordinates if you've got them"

R4's Sensors skill is 3D:
R4 rolls 16

A report appears on your Combat Multiview Display: There are large deposits of metal on the planet's surface, all in close proximity. The largest matches the landing coordinates provided by Alliance intelligence. The system appears clear, but the asteroids are causing severe interference with sensors and R4 cannot get any reading beyond the fringes of the asteroids.

As an aside, R4 mentions that the schematics of the base only show one entrance: the main hanger. He hopes that the door not frozen shut.

Ka - You stand up, annoyed at your surroundings, and walk into the cockpit. You hear the last few words of Ilon's transmission. You see Rava standing next to Ilon, with his arms crossed, and the two gunner's chairs behind them on the left and right. You can see Hoth and an asteriod belt through the viewport.

Ilon - You mutter your "Jedi watchdogs," curse and contact the other ships on the Alliance secure channel.

"Looks like we made it boys, now lets get down there and get this thing out of there, send me landing co-ordinates if you've got them"

You hear footsteps as you begin your sensor sweep: the other Jedi has entered the cockpit, followed by the wierd guy who talks to his work.

Your Mech skill is 4D + 1: you roll a 14 + 1 = 15

Your scan has revealed a very large mass of metal on the planet's surface, with other smaller masses dotting the land around it. There is no doubt that you've found Echo Base. Your scan also reveals a large storm on the planet, but it looks like it is a safe distance from the base. The asteroids are interfering with any further scans. The only ships on your scopes are an X-Wing, and an A-Wing.

Rava - You hear Ilon's remark about "Jedi Watchdogs." You stand there with your arms crossed and do nothing. You notice Ka and Garmen entering the cockpit, while Ilon attends to his duties.

Athena - You evaluate the people around you, observing that Nagta has removed a set of clothing from the crate of cold weather gear. Ka leaves the room, and Garmen follows after a moment. You notice that a message has appeared on his datapad, but that isn't unusual when he works on his little toy. You envision yourself alone on the streets of coruscant with a stormtrooper ten meters in front of you, and your hold-out blaster at your side. The shop-keepers have closed their doors, and the women and children peer through the windows. He moves his hand, you react with lightning reflexes, and he is on the ground with a smouldering hole right between his eyes.

Garmen - You finish some code and then activate the CPU's autonomous mode. You set the CPU for number crunching, and a message appears on your datapad about despizing these demeaning tasks, but it begins crunching away. You walk into the cockpit, and bump into one of the gunner's chairs.

Camon - You scan the asteroid field, wary that something is lurking out there.

Your Mech skill is 3D: You roll 11

Your scans don't reveal much. The asteroids are interfering with your sensors, and you can't really get any valid readings. There are numerous sensor ghosts that appear and disappear as asteroids collide with one another, but you can't get any energy readings. Everything seems normal enough.

While you scan you hear Ilon over your Comm. System, "Looks like we made it boys, now lets get down there and get this thing out of there, send me landing co-ordinates if you've got them."

I am going to grab a set of clothes the appropriate size and hand them to Athena
"cold.... you'll need those... "
I motion to the gun and whisper so only she can hear
"you.... dont trust them? Do..... you wish me to eliminate someone?"

Noticing the complaint, I attempt (in my assuredly akward and noticable way) to look around to make sure no one is looking at me.

Once Im convinced Im not being watched, I will tell sellia that while she may not like the number crunching, at least she will be able to get it done quickly.... Unless of course I need to recompile her sub-routines to improve performance again...

After that I will begin to wander around the cockpit, looking for the ships computer brain or any other electronic device of interest.

"R4 prepare for landing"

I follow my course vector to the Echo base Main hanger, I will set down it it assuming the Doors are open. If not I will deal with that when I get there.

I put on the clothes that Nagta gave me. "Thanks."

Whispering only so Nagta can hear, "I trust some more then other but, there is nothing I can do about that. Right now please don't cause any problems. However we might need to eliminate later."

I try to keep track of all the others on the ship.
