HRE-43 "Firestorm" Pulsed Energy Rifle

I'll stick with Jon's format, as it shouldn't get too crowded with all three categories.

HRE-43 "Firestorm" Pulsed Energy Rifle

Post by Samurai »

The HRE-43 "Firestorm" Pulsed Energy Rifle is one of the most powerful in the Empire as we know it. It fires small (1 cm diameter) spherical pulses of energy, characteristic of ones used in several planetary outposts in the Empire. These pulses have the capability to vaporize on impact, or leave a more lasting impression on its target.

The secret to the Firestorm's amazing energy output is the tri-phase shifter, which rapidly moves the globe of energy between three or more dimensions as rapidly as 10 million times per millisecond. This puts extreme wear on the gun; however, and it can only fire once every two to ten seconds, depending on the mode. But when it does fire, the target is as good as dead if you have him where he cannot move. The Firestorm was tested in an abandoned area of Corulag, and needless to say it vaporized all 20 biotargets in 5 minutes flat. The HRE-43 is, assuredly, the next generation weapon of heavy assault troopers.

A highly experimental, starship-sized model of the Firestorm is currently being constructed.

Tactical Deployment: These weapons are still undergoing field tests, and some problems with power regulation still have to be worked out. This weapon is likely to be deployed as a heavy weapon (one per squad).

Model: IMS' HRE-43 "Firestorm" Pulsed Energy Rifle
Type: Heavy energy rifle
Scale: Character
Skill: Blaster: energy rifle
Fire Rate: 1/2 (1/5) [1/10]
Availability: 4, X
Range: 10-30/50/80 (5-15/25/40) [20-45/70/110]
Damage: 6D (8D) [5D/4D/1D]
Game Notes: The range and damage listed in the parentheses are for the secondary fire mode, which fires a larger (3 cm diameter) pulse. The secondary mode can also be set for volley fire, which fires a sphere of energy encased in a temporary cocoon immediately before leaving the barrel. This tertiary mode has the range and damage listed in the brackets.
NOTE: Tertiary mode damage decreases sharply with range. Treat anything inside 5 meters as vaporized, no rolls needed. Inorganic objects vaporized without a trace, organic and living objects dead and body vaporized, as well as anything touching/holding object.
Until you find something worth dying for, you're not really living.
