Dual Video Cards

Post by THE JEW (RaVeN) »

Much like SMP, now you can have dual video cards:

I'll believe it when it goes retail, though. I remember reading about how Alienware was going to offer dual TNT2 Ultras.

Though, it would be super cool. Buy 2 mid range cards for less than the price of one high end card and get more performance than it.

This is very cool and I see the solution to many problems with this.

I'm with you Jay, sounds really awsome but I wonder how they are going to implement this in reality.

I figured out how it works. From Brad (a very knowledgeable guy) at 2CPU:

Now look at the capacitors and stuff around the cpu's

WHAT THE HELL HAS IWILL GOT PLANNED FOR US IN THE NEXT TWO MONTHS?

I know what they've done. It doesn't use any alienware tricks or anything.

Tumwater has a 32 line pcie interface. It is supposed to be 1x 16 for graphics, 1x 8, 1x4, 4x1, or something like that. Iwill have instead made the motherboard 2x 16 pcie slots. That means the board will have no other pcie slots at all, yet it will have PCI66 support from the Hance Rapids southbridge.

That looks like a pretty sweet deal...

I didnt think that the performance increase would be that good, but if it is, Im all for it..

Yeah, it does look impressive.

I'm waiting for some benchmarks not done by the manufacturer first before I make my final decision.
