I thought it was an excellent movie that compared quite well to the comics.
Maybe not as good of a conversion as Spiderman was, but damn good nonetheless.

Hellboy is an excellent Character and Ron Pearlman Kicks ass

I thought that some of the CG effects were a little weak.
Ron Pearlman was great as Hellboy though. Not as good a Spiderman, but much, much better than The Hulk.

Have yet to see it, but want to.

It's interesting that there's rumor of a Hulk sequel (no "brooding," just Hulk smash).

And, as an aside, Punisher > *

EDIT:

Any comments on this film compared to XLG? I've heard there are some similarities, but can never comment on that seeing as I haven't seen this film yet.

Maybe just the environments, they were dark and gritty. Ya, it's cool that they had an actor play Hellboy instead of cg-ing him. Great movie
When Steven Seagal kills a ninja, he only takes its hide. When Chuck Norris kills a ninja, he uses every part.

Chuck Norris and Mr. T walked into a bar. The bar was instantly destroyed, as that level of awesome cannot be contained in one building.

Part of the major problems with this movie was that the character Hellboy isnt as widely recognizable as say Spiderman or the Hulk (although Ang Lee was part of the problem with that movie...)

The environments fit the movie perfectly. If you've ever read or seen any of the hellboy comics, you'd see how well they adapted them to the movie.

And Pearlman did an amazing job with Hellboy... Just perfect

Although the CG was weak at points, they did a decent job overall

Do you mean LXG?
It was kind of similar to LXG with the "team of freak fighting other freaks idea" but that's about it.

Yeah, the Connery movie.

K, cuz some of the comments I read basically said it was very similar to that.

Saw it and thought it was decent. A little "turn key" in its approach, but decent nonetheless.

I actually didn't mind the CG approach of the Hulk. Watching the cartoons makes you realize how huge he actually is. *shrug*

Ang Lee is never the problem with any movie.

But then, I have no big commitment to comics, so whatever. I look forward to seeing Hellboy soon.
