Mirc And My Downloader

man oh man i tell you i have spent hours upon countless hours looking for anything that remotely resembles what dalnet used to be like and let me tell you in terms of movies, i havent found jack... i just gave up from what few contacts i have left in mirc it seems that all the good rooms/servers have gone underground in that the searcj engines dont even pull them up and therefore you have to know the name of the room before you log in or you aint finding jack... this information was current as of nov/ early december if it has changed yet i dont know but eventually i will log back on to see what i can find
can someone list the servers they think might hold some valuable channels?

Undernet has a few movie channels. I haven't looked into them so you're on your own for that.

The Autoget script for Mirc is amazing. Makes finding mp3's just as easy as Kazaa, keeps track of all the servers, and a host of other features. For music it can't be beat.

On a side note, did anyone here ever set up a server? I have one that works great except for one small detail ............... it won't send stuff. I think it's my router, but I'm not sure. Tips?

Oh, for those that don't know--highlighting in mIRC copies. You don't need to use Ctrl-C. Just highlighting drops all the colour stuff so you don't need to erase it.

ya i was a very active server for all of first year in res... sometimes it does take fiddling with... you have to fool with the ports ect... you can also try reversing your ports in this: i believe the port that it connects through is 6669 or somewhat... there is an option to use this active port to send things... it causes a 30 second delay between the user calling your server and the time that your server answers but it still works ok... thats what people in resnet use to skirt router problems ... aside from that you are actually going to have to go in and open some ports on your router

i had the exact same thing when i moved back in with my parents... took a bit of fiddling with mirc and my router because there were certain ports that my dad didnt want open... baring anything like that its fairly simple to get er up and goin

Meh. Maybe I'll just keep my "faulty" server the way it is. I only set one up so I could get server status. It allows me that (well, with most servers) and my upload isn't saturated. B@stardly, but I don't think my housemates would like the idea of me serving too much.

These are the most common way that mp3s are stored on the www, you
should try these strings first.

String Format :
Type 1 : [Directory String] + (inurl[file type] + [mp3 name]
Type 2 : [Directory String] + (intitle[file type] + [mp3 name]

Type 3 : [Directory String] + [file type] + [mp3 name] + [limitors]

Example Strings :
- intitle:index.of + mp3 + "grandaddy" -html -htm -php -asp -txt -pls
- "index of" + "mp3" + "radiohead" -html -htm -php
- "index of" + mp3 + "grandaddy"
- "index of" + inurl:mp3 + "beatles" -txt -pls
- "index of" + intitle:mp3 + beatles
- "last modified" + "shn" + "dylan"
- "last modified" + inurl:shn + "bob dylan"
- "parent of" + inurl:wma + "grandaddy"

Suggestions :
- Try (intitle:index.of + "mp3" + "band name" -htm -html -php -asp) first it
is usually the most effective.

Another Little Trick:
- If you have been getting alot of results on google but the pages don't seem
to be there try adding dates and the "apache" string to your search i.e.

- intitle:index.of + mp3 + "grandaddy" -html -htm -php -asp apache feb-2005
- intitle:index.of + mp3 + "grandaddy" -html -htm -php -asp apache 2005

or if you just want a big list of mp3' doing a search like this everymonth
- intitle:index.of + mp3 + -html -htm -php -asp apache mar
