Bill Gates thinks that charging for e-mail is a good way to eliminate spam.

Granted, the charge would be a penny or less per message.

Gentlemen, we got 20 calls about the David Hyde-Pierce incident. And as you know, one call equals a billion people, which means 20 billion people were offended by this

You already pay for email....
One way or another, you pay for email through ISP fees or Taxes if you use public terminals...

The best way to get rid of spammers is to kill them all in a glorious purging, crucifying their bodies for all the other spamming hopefuls to see.

The only time you pay for e-mail is if you use the e-mail your ISP provides you with. Most of the web-based e-mail servers don't see any income from individual users paying ISP's for internet access.
They make their money through advertising and other means, e-mail is essentially free.

Essentially yes, its free, but in some way or another you are paying to use it. Maybe not it directly, but perhaps to access the internet.

I dont like the idea of paying for something that has been and should remain a free service. It just sounds like another money grab for M$.
