security is not a issue at all, that by far would be the least of the problem.

Some of us have been to a large lan, those of you that have not you realy cant understand what is all involved.

What's your definition of a large LAN?

EDIT:

I'll cut ya a deal, Pimpin Matt. I'm gonna be busy most of this summer. You can take over my spot with Homey B and organize this one. Get your feet wet before you go swimming. Run this one and then run a big one. This way you get the experience running one and there's a small chance of economic loss. Think about it for a bit before you respond.

EDIT2:

I'll even make the deal a little more sweet for you. I'll deal with the advertising on lanparty.com, around ryerson, my local newspapers, and toronto in general. You cover west of Woodstock and I'll cover east.

Some of us have looked at an engine, others have not. That doesnt neccesarily mean that you're going to have an exceptional amount of knowledge about the subject. Attending a LAN and running one are two very different things. When you attend one, you only see everything working properly, when you set it up, you get the whole picture.

I agree that this would be an excellent plan, but not yet. Everyone has talked about them for years, but you dont run before you can walk. We havent hit a 50 person LAN party yet, and on the last one we barely broke even with funds. Im not saying its impossible, Im just saying its not plausibe yet.

I never said Anything about being in charge. Im merely going on the fact that I have helped set up almost every LAN party and have more experience in that area.

You may not use Bob's servers, but unless they are comparable, you're going to get massive lag.

I have:

4 port 10/100 switch/router
5 port Base10 hub
8 port 10/100 switch
8 port 10/100 switch (un-reliable, drops MAC address)
8 port Base10 hub (needs appropriate power adapter, 6.0V)

easy to move/setup webserver if needed for tournament schedules/results.

I don't understand why everyone is listing their cr@p, but at least we're filling threads. ;)

He's getting an idea of what people can loan to their mega-lan idea. At least I think that's what he's doing...
