MTG Tournament

Post by [PX] Nebuchadnezzar »

How many people would be interested in an impromptu Magic: The Gathering tournament? Entry would be $5 or so, and then there would be cash prizes for 1st and possibly 2nd place.

Also, what kind of tournament would you want? Type 1, Type 2, or a tourney for each? Let me know and I'll get the ball rolling on when it might be.

If I was going to join into a tournament, I'd only join if it were the standard rules that we used to play with.

Basically unrestricted with the exception of Unglued.

that sounds fair, the rules would be HS Standard (High-School :P). I'm writing them up right now so anyone who didn't play with us in School can get a feel for our house rules. Type 2 cards only are quite limiting when it comes to having lots of fun.

So what price sounds good to everyone, and when is everyone done school and available for this?

Actually if I recall correctly we basically played
Type 1 when we played at school, because we did mostly adhere to the idea of having "restricted" cards which we could only have 1 of in our decks.

If we were to have a tournament I suggest that we use the
Extended banned/restricted list. I feel that it most adaquitly shows what the game is really meant to be like and gets rid of all the stupid cards that Wizards printed before they game had really took shape - before they knew what they were doing.

As long as you guys don't have like crazy good decks or something I'd be up for playing... I'm out of school and home the 11th of April or so.

well I'm working on fine tuneing my Sliver deck down to a 10 or less turn kill deck (in one-on-one situations), but I'm also working on a deck based around Type 2 cards with Type 1 spices.

But seriously.. that's cool. Caleb tried to make some sort of sliver deck once. Turned out ok, i suppose... The whole 5-colour thing I was never comfortable with.

it currently has all sliver cards besides 4 artifacts and land, and no basic land at all.

I'd almost say I'd prefer cash, since i cant stand the look of the new sets...

However, free is free...

So is there a date set for this, or nothing yet?
I really have nothing to do for this week, as my computer isn't exactly working..., and magic could fill this void. (back in canada too)

whenever lots of people are free, it will happen, probably closer to school's end for all.
