Nvidia stooping low

It seems that Nvidia is bedding down with EA to make games that recognize Nvidia's hardware as "preffered". So this means that Nvidia owners get good looking games, and everyone else gets less. Im all for bundled games but I dont like this one bit.

Yeah, I'm watching how this turns out. The only good thing about it is..........how many EA games do we play aside from BF1942, MOH and C&C Generals?

You mean my Sims games won't get as many fps? CRAP! :mrgreen:

(Though, seriously, this is something to keep an eye on. Even though we only play a few EA games, they are ones that we like [obviously]).

Thats why I put it up here. Its worth keeping an eye on. I never thought Nvidia would stoop so low as to make deals with game producers like EA to ruin the competition

Well, the whole "way it's meant to be played" intro in the demo of UT2k3 was the first instance of klaxons going off in my head. Then when the whole special texture set that "only" the FX could run (which was later proved wrong by 9700 pro owners) only cemented it. Advertising in games = ok. Specializing them to only run on your hardware = bad. Then the game becomes a tech demo rather than a game no matter how fun it is.

Ok i think that Nvida is makin a great buisness move, shure it fucks over people using anything but a Vidcard made by Nvidia but hay thats what they want. it will increas $ for them and hat $ is the bottom line.

You just bitter, Microsoft is as big as it is because of great buisness moves if your a little bitter of how bill got his fourtion thats fine. Mocking him because he rich is kinda dumb.

The reasion people are using Windows is because its such a great OS and easy to use. Buisness moves by Microsoft have made it as big as it is. Hay if linix was as good or better then windows with all that it has to offer then i would be using linux or any other OS but in my opinion Windows is still the greates OS out there.

Dont say that the only reasion there using it is becasuse they have to. NO THEY DONT. Bill doesent have knife to them telling them to use it or die. If Linix wants to get bigger then they should maby, do some advertizing or stuff like that.

I'm not denying it's a good business move for Nvidia. It's a bad move for consumers. For example, the war in Iraq is good for the oil industry in the States; it's not so good for that kid over there who died from some shrapnel that accidently hit a hotel.

Excuse my non-communist views; I just happen to think just and moral competition is for the best.

This "stinks of microsoft tactics" because its the exact same tactic they employ. Competition is either bought out, or eliminated through large deals such as this. While Nvidia may be making a good business move for themselves, they're fucking over the comsumers, ie YOU! ATI is currently making better, cheaper video cards then Nvidia at the moment. If business moves like this were common place because they are "good" then we would have crappy video cards at high high prices. Explain to me how paying far too much money for a video card? You dont like it do you? Well you just condoned Nvidia doing that since they make money. As for being bitter about Microsoft? How, I was never one of their competitors. I use Linux and I love it. I dont hate Microsoft because they make windows. I hate Microsoft because they force out competition and stagnate the software market. But "wait" you say, "you hate windows Paul!". You're right. I hate windows. Not because its made by microsoft, but because its badly coded and forced down the average consumers throat and toted as stable and secure.

, well I cant begin to tell you how wrong you are. People use windows because thats the only option they have. How many average users do you think know how to install an operating system, regardless of how easy it is? Not many eh? Microsoft actually forbids its retailers from selling other operating systems in their systems if they wish to continue selling Windows. Thats why people use windows. Its the only option they have.

As for the Linux using community wanting to gain size??? Since they already control 70% of the business server sector, thats not a problem.

Please Matt, dont make uneducated statements like those above anymore. They just make you sound ignorant. Fine you like windows better. Thats your perogative, but dont try and tell me that Windows is the superior operating system, because its not. You want proof, look anywhere you like, you'll find it. Just ask Carmack or other major coders. Any game with a console is almost always coded in Linux. You know why? Windows doesnt have the stability that Linux does. My brother ran a Linux router/server for 7 months without rebooting and never lost stability or performance. Lets see you do that with Windows 2000 or XP. He was using Mandrake, the "easy to use desktop" version of linux. I think I've proved my point here.

At least someone finally said it. It seems like Nvidia is getting kinda desperate though what with the fx hose over (3dFX/geforce FX

)and the microsoft/xbox dealy thing going a little awry. But as you said this blows cause my next rig will be ATI powered. Two power houses join together to screw the competition. Microsoft scum!

I never said any of your points were invalid except for the accusations about me being bitter towards microsoft. I did however point out your error in thinking that Nvidia was right to make this so-called "good" business move. Do you like getting screwed over when buying computer components, software or hardware? I know I dont. As for buying a mac? Most people dont want a machine that costs $3000 to surf the web. Macs are small portion of the market and not really a viable option for most people due to their high price. most people dont want to use photoshop, they just want to surf the web and get email, thats where Dell and retailers like it come in..

I don't mind them advertising their company at the start of the game (ala UT2003). If you pay the developer cash, you should get an ad. Optimizing for JUST your hardware? That's utter bull$hit.
