1). It's a truck, not car (apparently, non-Ford fans don't know what a REAL truck is and are confused by vehicle classifications)

2). Where's your stock truck equivalent by any other company?

3). When it comes to overall reliability (ie. when you actually work them), they can't be beat.

4). Little cars get blown off the road what with the fulcrum of wind this thing produces.

5). Mine's survived 2 roll overs and is still kicking even though my sister drives it..........'nuff said :mrgreen:

Now that GM has outsourced production of their diesel engines to someone else, they've finally got a decent one. It only took them roughly 5 years to realize their product was schtick. First thing people will notice is the greater horse power of the GM. However, when one wants a working truck, horse power is NOT the greater component. You'll note, however, that the torque on the Powerstroke equals (or is greater) than that of the Duramax. Why? Well, when you want a truck to actually WORK (not move Aunt Mabel's couch, but haul 75 X 300 lb. pigs or one of those rv trailers "that are supposed to be parked and never moved" through the mountain ranges), you want torque. We can see that the Powerstroke gets equivalent/better torque with less horse power. What does this mean? Better fuel economy.

This is all well and good, but it doesn't even touch on the most important aspect--shocks. You'll prolly notice that GM trucks have a smoother ride. Why? Their trucks are equipped with "flow mo" shocks, a concept also applied to their cars. Dodge also has this, but not as to such a great extent. While it gives a more comfortable ride, it's awful for trucks. At least, if you want a working truck. At least GM is working on this.

Silverado? Sierra? Yeah, same truck, different grill. Lovely. Same schtick, different pile.

Homey V is right, though. The Hummer is the best truck (arguably) that GM has ever put out. Except that there's one problem........they farked it. They took everything that was good about the H1 (ie. it's ruggedness) and *spits out* urbanized it. The Hummer is NOT a soccer mom's vehicle; it's the US Marine's land deployment vehicle. They condemned the soul of the Hummer to Hades with the H2 and sold out.

I happen to value my Father's opinion on the matter also seeing as he's owned GM, International, and Ford pickups. He used to be a die hard Chev guy in the 50's and 60's, but things started to turn around in the 70's. He then bought his International and my Mom a short box F-150. He later bought himself a GM in the 80's ....... and found out that it couldn't meet his standards. We then got our red F-250 (Homey B and J may remember it) and have been Ford truck buyers ever since. He's like me, though. Whatever the best performance to price ratio wins, he buys.

In conclusion, GM has just RECENTLY put out a truck that even comes close to rivalling Ford as a work truck. What do I base this off of? Aside from the above data, I asked the people who work their trucks to bone ....... and then sand the bone down for good measure. Who am I talking about? Dead-stock trucks. The dead-stock truck operators in our area are rather smart, in my opinion. They're always trying all the different trucks (ie. Dodge, GM, and Ford). To me, trucks that haul tonnes of dead, rotting, maggoty flesh all day down dirt, gravel, pot-holed roads are trucks that are being put to the test. The results? Dodge makes a good truck, but when significantly taxed the front ends have a tendency to give (they don't like gravel roads). GM has made great strides (like I said, they finally realized that they can't make diesels and got someone else to do it....good for them). They're right up there, but they still have a few minor break down problems. And the Fords? The ones they always come back to and the majority of their fleet.

Would I ever consider owning a GM truck? Friggin' right (we know a guy who takes zamboni frames, uses dealer parts, assembles the trucks and sells them. $35,000 for an extended cab with leather interior sounds good to me, eh?). Would I ever consider owning a Dodge? Freakin' right. But when I want a truck that I can beat day in, day out I'll take my Ford (unless, the other 2 are at a significantly cheaper price. Like computer parts, dollars talk the loudest to me :mrgreen:
