This is a replacement guide for creating a Character for the Wheel of Time On-Line RPG hosted by KalNet. There is some deviation from the Core Rule book; these reflect house rules that allow for better Net Play.
It is recommended that you do not start using this post until it is finished. It will be finished when this line disappears
Finally, I would like to point out that this page is written from the point of view of a character that is a Borderland Wander. Thus any specific bonus that are listed are for that class. You must substitute other classes and backgrounds bonus your self.
In the end, don't worry. If you make a mistake the GM will let you know
Step 1:
Download this PDF file. This file contains a printable version of the WoT Stat sheet. I recommend that you fill it out in pencil. The process of creating a character is much easier when it is first done on paper. That is why you are printing that sheet right now!
Important Note:
In the folowing sections you are ask to mark down skills. This does not mean chose skills that your character will have. You must mark down all skills that are listed for your Character. You will chouse what skills you want later.
Step 2:
Now follow this link to the Backgrounds section. Read over all of the backgrounds that seam interesting to you. Take careful note of the Background feats and Skills as they will determine the disposition of your character. Details on Background Feats can be found here. Skill descriptions are likewise found here.
Once you select a background, write its name in the space provided on the Character sheet. Then proceed to mark your background skill as you class skills on the Character sheet. Class skills are marked on the sheet by filling the small box preceding the name completely.
Also on a scrap pice of paper, write down the Background Feats and Languages that you can chose from.
Step 3:
Now follow this link to the Class section. Read over all of the Classes that seam interesting to you. Take careful note of the Class feats (may or may not recive at first Level), and Skills as they will determine the disposition of your character. Details on Feats can be found here. Skill descriptions are likewise found here.
Once you select a Class, write its name in the space provided on the Character sheet. Then proceed to mark your Class skills on the Character sheet. Class skills are marked on the sheet by filling the small box preceding the name completely.
If you recive a feat at first level, be sure to record it under the feats section of your template. Any feats that grant you die modifications should also be recorded on your sheat at this time. eg, a Feat that gives you +2 to diplomacy checks. This would be recorded in the diplomacy misc modifire location in the skills box.
Step 5:
Ok now we really get moving. Download this little dice-rolling program. Install DiceMage and run the program, and check the following settings.
Set the "number to roll" setting to 4.
Set "ignoring" to "lowest dice".
Be sure that the d6 button is pressed.
Now press roll. The program will roll the 4 dice together for you and remove the lowest dice. This score that appears at the bottom is now one of your 6 ability scores. Write this number down on a SCRAPE piece of paper, NOT in the skill boxes! That comes later.
Roll up 5 more stats by clicking the "roll again" button in the popup window.
Now repeat that whole process again so that you have two sets of six numbers. Eg.

15 16
12 14
14 18
16 13
11 10
9 9

Now you might get some pretty terrible scores, if for example. You get a bunch of low scores eg 4-6 you can re-roll them. The rule of thumb is if you don't get an 18 in either set, re-role both sets. If you do get an 18 in one , use that set. If you get an 18 in both sets, choose one and scrap the other.
Thus it is traditional to be bad in one section, moderate in most, and exceptional in one. Basically don't cheat, if your stats seam to high the GM will reject them and force a re-roll.
The General rule of thumb is if your highest score is a 15, re-roll and if your total modifiers as listed on the chart below, are equal to zero or less.
I do not think this will be a problem, just don?t abuse the system, you will get caught
