Avidemux is pretty good from my understanding. Its been ages since I have done any video editing, but ext time I have need I will look into it further

VMWare server uses web interface which is complete and utter garbage.
We have been testing out KVM, particularly with the news that Red Hat has dropped Xen in favor of KVM. Also VirtualBox is one I (we) use to test new OS's, features etc

VMWare's interface is absolute crap. It runs out of the web browser and is really irritating. We stopped using VMWare at work for this reason.
