New Acquisition!

Image
My 3 Splatmasters with tubes after a thorough cleaning. All 3 are complete with detents and fire.

I am looking for a case to make a dueling pistol set. Dimensions should be at least 18" X 12" X 4".
If anyone has one or sees one I would love to have it.

Dis-assembly
Image
I find it's easiest to remove the cocking tube on the back first to release tension from the internals. Also take off the plastic covering the front of the marker and the 12g cover screw.

Image
Remove the 6 screws that hold the 2 halves together and carefully separate them while keeping an eye out for the trigger spring.

Image
Pull out the barrel, power tube, and carrier piece while being carefull not to lose the detent (orange ball) and spring.

Image
All parts ready for re-assembly.

You can shim the back spring with a ground down dime to bring up velocity. You can't fit two. I found that out after 30 minutes of futzing. Mine shot around 190 when I bought it. I'm up to around to around 230 now. Either that, or a trip to the hardware store for a stronger spring is in order.

You can try and track down Kidney Thief parts (ie. modified Phantom valves, metal tube, etc.) if you want to be able to thumb-cock instead of palm-cock them. $$$, though.

I have old cordless drill snap cases that could be modified. Forest City had briefcases last time I was there.

I already can, so it's either really bad springs or Superman thumbs.

Couple shots over the chrono will tell ya which one it is.

Kidney Thief mods.

Evolution of a Splatmaster. (similar to link above, but with video of it in action).

Speedwheel Probably the best bang-for-buck upgrade for a Splatmaster. Should be easy enough to make on the lathe/mill. It's just 2 diameters, a channel, and a tapped hole in its most basic form.
