Not only free to play, but also browser based. Sounds pretty interesting. Does anyone else know anything about this game? This is the first I've heard of it.

So, I tried this and it's not as cool as I thought it would be. Basically it's more of a browser game than an RTS. They need to learn some lessons from Quake Live.

The whole thing (if it is following from the Lord of Ultima pedigree) is meant to be very casual with cash supports for people who want to take it to the next (aka unhealthy) level.

These browser games are like crack to me, I cut myself off of Lord of Ultima (same dev/producer) last year after sinking a hundred bucks into the game and it wasn't much past february :( Now I had played the year prior to that on a different server, but they released new servers and the elite friends and enemies from the old server started on the new one as allies.

The intent is to create a game that you don't need to log into much more than a couple times a day for 10-15 minutes at a time.

That does look pretty sweet. I assume it's not browser based, lol

yeah, it's more like what I think you were hoping for in terms of gameplay, multiplayer interaction and the F2P angle. No browser games out there that I'm aware of that will challenge QuakeLive's plugin and play functionality just yet.

I got into the alpha for this -- but I don't like alphas in that I attributed one massive video card frying to an alpha I was in...

What video card was it? A fried video card is more indicative of a driver/BIOS failure.

It was a Radeon 2900XT the problem program was the Mortal Online alpha a couple years back -- the reason I attribute it to the alpha was mostly perceived cause and effect. I loaded up the game, switched resolution, the game went into a wireframe map visualization with what seemed like an infinite wireframe draw distance and proceeded to freeze. When I rebooted I had video corruption. To make it even more difficult to diagnose properly, if I loaded windows without the drivers (via safe mode) the graphical corruption would not occur.

However, when I booted into Windows with the video drivers (which I used driver sweeper to remove, then properly reinstalled them) the graphical corruption would still occur. I reinstalled Windows to try to save myself the hassle of a week or two without a computer, but that didn't work either. When I swapped to a different PCI-e video card into the mobo the problem wasn't there, nobody would let me swap the damaged video card into their system (probably a good call on their part  ) so I wasn't able to do much further diagnosing or troubleshooting. Luckily I had got some serious money's worth out of the card and was able to get a discounted and more recent Radeon to replace it.

It's one of the weirder malfunctions I've ever had that to this day has me stumped.

Sounds like bad contact between the GPU or VRM and the cooler. I had a TNT2 M64 of a neighbor do something like that. I could boot into Windows98 safe mode in 16 colour mode only. Driver installation, changing resolution, colour depth, etc. would always lock. I popped the case to look at the video card. The fan on the card was seized from cat hair. My guess is that it overheated and fried certain components.

We woulda let you swap in your card. The mobo wasn't fried so your card likely would not have hurt anything. Do you still have it?

Heck, Homey B arced power from my mobo to my video card and it lived.

And let's not even get into Homey J and I physically blowing a breaker out of the box

I think it might be around somewhere, I'd considered baking it in a last ditch effort but wasn't sure that I wouldn't contaminate my oven in the process.
