Bethesda say they own the trademark to the word "scrolls" due to their game "The Elder Scrolls" and tell Notch to change the name of his company or cease and desist:

I don't think they have a leg to stand on. On an unrelated note, Notch should just finish Minecraft, launch it properly, and then start on another game.

http://penny-arcade.com/2011/08/19Notch, who may also be called Mr. Minecraft, challenged Bethesda to a Quake 3 Deathmatch as a means of resolving the issue, but no word has been forthcoming because this isn’t how we resolve legal disputes in this dimension even though it would be totally sweet. I think this is how you should solve all problems.
