Oooooooooook.

China makes a bunch of lead paint covered toys for Mattel. They sell them. They, thankfully, are recalled. Mattel apologizes to China:

http://today.reuters.com/news/articlene ... MATTEL.xml

"Sorry for letting you make lead covered toys, mang."

Well, if China doesn't make Mattel's toys, I don't now who else would make the plastic crap. They need China, and they've got millions sunk into infrastructure there. If Ming the Merciless needs a "sorry" in order to keep him from kicking Mattel out of China, then so be it.

I'd say they're a pretty good candidate for sterilization.

Even better Chinese toys:

"Ok, ladies..........now, we're just going to feed you pitchers of beer and these cute lil' toy beads..............you've got nothing to worry about..........absolutely nothing.................yeah............"

W00t for date rape toys?

Hey, that was posted on the LICD site :P

As to forgetting you have a son, yeah either they have severe amnesia or they no longer want a son......most likely the latter.

McDonald's CEO says that video games are to blame for child obesity:

http://www.mcvuk.com/news/29268/McDonal ... od-obesity

He says that they share the blame, but tries to downplay his company and show that kids are fat due to lack of physical activity.

Lest he forget, McDonald's isn't even innocent in that field:

Why would you want to make Gieger counters illegal?

http://www.villagevoice.com/news/0803,t ... 873,2.html

Cuz, ya know, if we dont' know about lethal radiation it'll just go away. Granted, I give the police the right to ignore the call of the idiot who bought one at the flea market, but I don't see why one would need to make them license worthy.

Here's a good news story on the environment. A guy reduces his consumption so that all he does is recycle (ie. no garbage produced). Applaud worthy?

http://www.celsias.com/2008/01/30/city- ... sh-service

Not according to the city. They sue him for failing to meet a municipal bylaw to, basically, produce garbage.

Britons are a little rusty on their history:

25% think Winston Churchill was a myth and 58% think Sherlock Holmes was real.

Not the first, second, or even third communications cable severed:

http://www.dailytech.com/article.aspx?newsid=10576

Now the fourth cable communication in the Middle East has gone down. Seems kinda fishy.

Oh, and an interesting discussion on Al Gore and the internet in the comments

Now the fifth cable has been cut:

http://www.dailytech.com/article.aspx?newsid=10598

Also interesting:

http://www.internettrafficreport.com/asia.htm

Iran's communication to the outside world is taking a sh!t-kicking.

Coincidence?

EDIT:

It seems it may have all been an anchor that was abandoned:

http://www.dailytech.com/article.aspx?newsid=10619

So, lemme get this straight, one stray anchor brings down most of the Middle East's telecommunications? How easy would it be for someone who was actually trying to do that?
