I don't think it will last too long. Most people want something thats fast, easy and simple-to-use. Google is all of that and what Microsoft normally produces (outside of Windows) is not.

what do you mean 'outside of windows'
windows is not fast, concise or even consistent. Overal since windows 98 its gone steadily in the reverse direction its just that no one has the sense to see that

It works for me. Since I do not use Linux and will not even touch a Mac, Windows is the #1...except for Vista because that version makes me sad.

I would attribute most of M$' success to their Office suite. Say what you want about their operating system, their Office is the bar against all others are measured. Granted, it succeeds largely due to its proprietary format, but it (quite frankly) is an excellent product. Though, I do hate their most recent version of it (where the devil are all the buttons to do sh!t?).

I was at a LAN this last weekend, and I had to try to copy some files from an XP system to a Vista system. the Vista system couldn't see the XP systems, and when I burned a CD, the window that opened for a single directory CD showed seven directories, none of which were the ones I had copied onto the CD. I couldn't find an analogy to windows Explorer, or Network Neighborhood. Now this may be my inexperience with the operating system talking, but after four years of XP, the switch to Vista was counterintuitive. Nothing worked like it was supposed to.
