Torvald tells M$ to put up or shut up about the patents:
http://www.informationweek.com/news/sho ... =199600443
He says they'll code around any problems and what with IBM owning the majority of patents on what an OS is (though, most likely irrelevant due to age), he dares M$ to prove they're just not saber rattling.

This sounds good at first:

But it will only likely protect corporations that make obscure patents that prevent true inventors from making a buck.

M$ says Red Hat will eventually have to pay:
http://www.windowsitpro.com/Articles/Ar ... 97281.html
The author, quite astutely, notes that unless they start naming patents they're no better than SCO. And we all know how that turned out

Wow. That was quick:

M$, under the table, sues Novell and Red Hat.
NOTE: Novell, who made an arrangement with M$, is getting sued. Making deals with the devil still ends you up in the lakes of sulphur.

I really think M$ and Autodesk should've won this one:

Patenting using 2 passwords for installation gets you $140 million? Please.

Some university profs are suing Intel over cpu patents:
http://warf.org/news/news.jsp?news_id=221
Essentially, parts which made the Core 2 Duo line so great infringe on their patents (according to them).
