M$ embracing Open Source?

http://redmondmag.com/features/article. ... ialsid=688

Honestly, if they developed a GUI for Linux I think they would have a viable product on their hands. They invaded consoles, handhelds, mp3 players, phones, etc.

.............why not just try and win over the competitors' market?

Why go open source for business? Software audits are just one of the reasons.

interesting blog... somewhat thought provoking but not at all surprising
Especially coming from IBM... they are still grasping at straws after they totally botched their strange hold on the computer market in the late 80s/early 90s

Steve Wozniak of Apple hates Open Source:

http://blogs.cnet.com/8301-13505_1-9785353-16.html

Now, this coming from someone else, say at M$, would be completely acceptable. They each have differences in software ideals--so be it.

But when you're company is making pretty much its entire basis off open source, like this:

http://www.apple.com/macosx/features/unix/

.......and they openly admit it, it seems a little bit hypocritical to me.

Open source contains just as many bugs as commercial software:

The difference? The speed at which those bugs get fixed.

Open source vulnerabilities:

Though, the article has been updated with links to patches to fix the problem. So are they even vulnerabilities anymore?
